Wearing oxygen masks, Delhi's BJP leaders and workers staged protests against the AAP government at four places in the national capital on Saturday morning over air pollution in the city.
Party leaders said the protests took place at ITO intersection, near India Gate, Le Meridian Hotel roundabout and 11 Murti roundabout.
MP Manoj Tiwari and Delhi BJP general secretary Kamaljeet Sehrawat joined the protest at the 11th Murti Chowk, they said.
Delhi BJP general secretaries Harsh Malhotra and Yogendra Chandolia joined the protests at ITO intersection and Le Meridian roundabout respectively. Senior BJP leader Rajiv Babbar from Delhi joined the rally at India Gate, she added.
The Center on December 22 ordered a ban on non-essential construction work and plying of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers in the Delhi-NCR, amid deteriorating air quality in the region.
GRAP is the Centre's air pollution control plan that is implemented in the region during the winter season. GRAP categorizes actions into four phases: Phase I 'Bad' (AQI 201-300); Phase II 'Very Poor' (AQI 301-400); Stage III 'Severe' (AQI 401-450); and Phase IV 'Severe Plus' (AQI>450).
