Who let the dogs out? Bizarre moment someone’s pet pooch wanders across Sunrise stage through live telecast

Sunrise welcomes guests of all shapes, sizes and names every morning, but viewers were left stunned when a furry guest crashed the set on Wednesday.

Channel Seven’s breakfast show appeared to be having a ‘bring your pet to work’ day backstage when a pet broke loose during a live broadcast.

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-the-moment moment, the brown-colored dog casually wandered around the studio behind fill-in anchors Monique Wright and Michael Usher at 6:41 a.m.

Mark Beretta had just finished covering the daily sports news when the camera returned to headquarters.

Everything seemed to be fine as the team didn’t seem to notice anything strange on set when talking about the recent Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia.

However, eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed a hairy streak across the screen as someone’s dog passed behind the anchors and exited stage left.

Despite walking past newsreader Amber Laidler’s chair on the way out, all the hosts were a model of professionalism as they pretended not to see the pooch.

However, it seems host Monique, 51, noticed the dog, as moments before it was seen on screen, she could be seen subtly reaching under her desk to pet it.

She quickly pulled her hand back up as the camera returned to her after covering sports news, and moments later the dog walked away from the set.

The dog’s unplanned appearance was not discussed by the presenters, nor were there any dog-related segments to explain the dog’s presence.

When asked for comment on the matter, Channel Seven told Daily Mail Australia that the dog belonged to co-host Monique.

It’s not the only awkward moment to occur live on Sunrise in recent months, as a popular reporter was left red-faced after an encounter with a teacher in December.

Katie Brown suffered an embarrassing moment when she mistook a teacher for a student during a live cross at a school in Sydney’s west.

She could be seen moving through a large group of students enjoying a post-HSC celebration when the hiccup occurred.

Katie had just spoken to a student from St John Paul II Catholic College in Schofields about their HSC results when she tapped the shoulder of a woman nearby.

“Who do we have here?” Katie asked.

After the teacher identified herself as Mrs Canning, Katie cheekily asked her about her HSC results.

However, the teacher refused to play along and shifted focus to highlight her student’s achievements.

‘I’m really proud of them. “They did really well and worked really hard,” she said.

Katie quickly recovered and said to the young teacher, “You’re aging very well too, I thought you were a student.”
