A naked intruder — dressed only in a hat and sneakers — broke into a Houston home and committed a “lewd act” while standing over a sleeping couple’s bed.
The man, identified as Edgin Tavera, 37, was captured on surveillance video entering a person’s home in the early morning hours of Friday before the abusive act.
This was told by a woman whose name has not been released ABC13 that she woke up around 3:20 a.m. to see a strange man with no clothes on standing over her bed. When she woke up her boyfriend, she said, he chased the intruder out of the house and onto the green belt.
An hour earlier, a neighbor’s security camera captured the man trying to break into other homes on the block. In one clip he was seen rubbing his genitals on a car.
Commander Adrian Rodriguez of the Houston Police Department’s Kingwood Division assured the community that police were looking for the suspect.
Tavera was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with second-degree felonies, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Before Taverna was taken into custody, cycling teams patrolled the green zone.
Officials urged residents to lock their doors and windows and asked residents to submit any videos of the naked intruder.
The police chief also told the news outlet that if the evidence has been collected come back, they’ll have a good clue to the person they’re looking for.
Residents of the Hunters Ridge neighborhood were eager to find the man, including Greg Dunson who lives a few blocks away from where the naked intruder struck.
‘We don’t know where he is if he’s caught. Where did he go? Dunson told the news outlet. ‘He’s naked. Does he sleep in the woods? We do not know.’
Tavera’s criminal history dates back to 2005, including his time behind bars.
His criminal record includes assault, drug possession, illegal firearms, driving with a suspended license and criminal mischief, criminal misdemeanor.
In 2021, he was arrested in 2021 and imprisoned for 12 months for assaulting an officer. In 2010 and 2020, he was known for assaulting a family member.
Tavera is currently being held at the Harris County Jail and will appear before Magistrate Robert Johnson at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
