A trans woman who secretly recorded restaurant staff repeatedly calling her ‘sir’ and posted it on social media platforms has been criticized online by social media users.
The video, shared by @lillytino_, quickly went viral when she accused the restaurant servers of misgendering her, but some users criticized her for a “self-centered power trip” targeting innocent staff.
In the video, the trans woman can be seen wearing bright red lipstick, earrings, necklaces and crop tops.
When the restaurant staff said “thank you sir” or “yes sir,” she could be heard correcting, “I use she/her pronouns.” I’m not sir. I specifically asked not to be called sir.”
‘It’s always like a knife in the heart. It always hurts,” she expressed the emotional impact of mistaken gender identity on camera.
“I don’t need to be called ma’am, I just don’t need to be called sir,” she says in the video.

The video was initially shared on TikTok by user @lillytino, an influencer who livestreamed herself dining at restaurants and documenting incidents of misgendering.
The video has racked up 4.3 million views and over 200,000 likes on TikTok, while she wrote “USE GENDER NEUTRAL LANGUAGE” alongside the video.
She is being criticized for what many on social media consider a “self-centered power trip” and “attention seeking.”
The user @TTEcclesBrown reposted the video to
“It’s nothing but a self-centered power trip for these people,” wrote Matt Walsh, an author and activist, as he reposted the video.
“The only appropriate response is to tell him that you will continue to call him a man, because that is what he is, and there is absolutely nothing he can do about it,” he wrote.

“As a server, I often use ‘guys’ as a neutral term for a group and I’m always afraid someone will be offended, but it’s printed right into my server script,” one person said.
