Passengers on a JetBlue flight from Fort Lauderdale to Boston made an emergency landing in Orlando after a passenger went on a rant and called himself “the devil” while allegedly punching a woman traveling with him.

The incident caused JetBlue Flight 170 to be delayed for five hours following the violent incident Thursday evening.

The man, who has been publicly identified, threatened passengers around him while telling them he was the devil.

He then proceeded to physically assault a woman traveling with him.

In a statement, JetBlue explained that the flight was “diverted to Orlando due to a disturbance between two customers on board.”

The flight was already in full swing after leaving Fort Lauderdale, bound for Boston

“Two customers were deplaned with the assistance of police and the flight continued to Boston after a delay,” the statement continued.

Flight attendants were forced to place the woman in the plane's bathroom for her own safety, reports said WCVB.

Even then, the man continued to bang on the door in an attempt to get her out.

One passenger filmed video of the crazed customer being escorted off the plane by police officers after the unscheduled landing in Orlando.

The man was wearing a hoodie and a baseball cap when he was led away by officers.

The pilot, who had initially not informed the passengers of the change in their travel plans, could then be heard explaining to fellow passengers what was happening.

“We had a disruptive, violent passenger in the back,” the pilot said. 'Unfortunately I couldn't make an announcement, tip him off. “We didn't want to stir him up any more than he already was, he attacked another passenger.”

The flight was delayed as the remaining passengers were forced to disembark in Orlando, with the plane requiring refueling and a new crew before being allowed to take off again.

Police in Orlando later explained that the unruly passenger who caused the disturbance had not been arrested.

“The individual was found to be intoxicated and transported by the Orlando Fire Department to a local hospital for treatment,” a spokesperson said.

JetBlue has said it will not compensate passengers for the delays or inconvenience they experienced.

'This disruption is seen as an uncontrollable disruption; meaning it is due to events beyond JetBlue's control (things like air traffic control or weather disruptions) and is unfortunately not eligible for customer compensation or reimbursement of out-of-pocket costs,” according to an email to a customer.
