“Walmart does NOT use these services or hire employees to perform services on behalf of other retailers or companies.”
Some viewers claimed the woman was actually a “floor walker.”
Floorwalkers are employees in plain clothes whose job it is to monitor shoppers and watch for suspicious behavior or shoplifting.
“I don’t know how to explain it, but she just looks like a Walmart employee,” one commenter wrote in a follow-up post to the encounter the comedian shared on Nov. 20.
“They are always the most obvious person in the building,” another added.
“Like, yeah, you’re just looking at me from the end of the aisle, not looking for anything yourself? Oh sure.”
Walmart warned that scammers may try to recruit so-called secret shoppers and send fraudulent information via mail, text or email.
“Often these job offers involve a counterfeit check for a large sum of money or otherwise provide direct employment with a good salary and minimal effort,” the website says.
