Bitwarden adds support for mobile passcodes

Bitwarden, maker of one of the best password managers, has announced that mobile passkeys are now available for its services on mobile devices and desktop browsers.

This move will allow the majority of its customers to use passkeys in the mobile app for iOS and Android, with instant synchronization with the Bitwarden browser extensions for use on Chrome and Safari.

Bitwarden says the cross-platform support will “combine the convenience of synchronized vaults with the seamless security of passkeys.”

Unified secure passcodes and password management

Passwords provide a more secure method of logging into accounts and devices using passwords by combining multi-factor authentication on a mobile device with biometric verification such as a facial scan or fingerprint, allowing users to log in without having to remember every single password for every different account .

Industries are quickly adopting passkeys as their default method for secure logins because they cannot be guessed, provide better protection against phishing attacks, are more convenient, and are never sent to the website or app the user is logging into.

Features such as a password for 2FA, login with a Bitwarden key, support for browser extensions for password management, support for mobile apps for password management, and passworldess.dev for developer integration of password authentication are now available for free to all Bitwarden users.
