Police are on the hunt for a mysterious man who threatened diners at a trendy restaurant with a knife before throwing a chair at them.
Security footage on Sunday evening shows the man at Bine Bar and Dining at Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast throwing the chair over a crowded table, hitting several diners.
The man and his partner had entered the restaurant to have a drink, but the couple started arguing at their table.
When a group next to the couple tried to intervene, the man became belligerent.
Queensland Police said he then pulled a knife on a NSW man, 27, and threatened him.

After swinging the knife, he stood up, overturned the chair, and walked out.
“One guy just lost the plot and threw a punch at the other group who sat down,” Bine Bar and Dining owner Scott Imlach told 9News.
Mr Imlach said the restaurant’s manager was ‘fortunately successful in getting the man out on the street’.
The police were called to the scene, but Imlach claimed that the officers did not show up for ‘about two and a half hours’.
He added that he doesn’t blame the police because they “can’t get everywhere that’s a problem.”

Mr Imlach, owner of several Gold Coast restaurants and bars, expressed concern about people bringing guns into catering establishments.
The man fled in a white Ford Ranger.
The police are looking for him and have called on people who may have more information about his whereabouts to come forward.
