Bindi Irwin and husband Chandler Powell welcome a new addition to the family: ‘We think the world of you’

Wildlife Warriors Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell introduced fans to Australia Zoo’s newest family member, an adorable Fiji crested iguana, on Tuesday.

The happily married couple, who tied the knot in 2020, appeared in a new video dressed in their khaki work uniform as they talked about the reptile and showed off its unique markings.

The pair revealed that the iguana’s name is Kermit.

“They have the personality of puppy dogs,” said former wakeboarder Chandler, 26.

Mother-of-one Bindi, 24, added to their fans: “Thank you for meeting our Fiji crested iguana.”

“We think very much about you and your cute little face, you are so dope with your molting,” she said, referring to Kermit.

Bindi and Chandler, and her brother Robert and mother Terri Irwin, proudly carry on the legacy of her late father Steve Irwin as a wildlife warrior and conservationist through their work at Australia Zoo.

Steve, known around the world as ‘the crocodile hunter’, was fatally stabbed in the chest by a stingray in September 2006.

Steve was 44 when he died, leaving behind a wife and two young children.

Bindi previously told Yahoo Lifestyle that she felt “so blessed” to follow in Steve’s footsteps in protecting wildlife.

“It was devastating for us as a family to lose our superhero,” she said. “We are so blessed to be able to follow in his footsteps and ensure that everything he loved continues into the future.”

In an interview with Page Six in 2021, Bindi reflected on the kind of grandfather Steve would have been.

“First of all, we would never see Grace. He would just show her everything,” she said of daughter Grace, two.

“He was totally smitten with his kids and I know he would be a great grandfather and absolutely in love with Grace. We are all.’
