The singer has a recently renovated summer home in Sag Harbor that he will keep.
Joel even acknowledged during the concert that the $49 million asking price was quite high, adding that “nobody” would probably want to buy his house, called Middlesea.
The singer bought the five-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion in 2002 for $22.5 million, which at the time sat on a 14-acre site.
He had purchased a number of adjacent properties over the years, expanding his estate to 26 acres, with the house itself spanning a whopping 30,000 square feet.
Joel took the house off the market in November and revealed at the NYE concert that he is waiting for all renovations to be completed before putting it back on the market.
He reportedly renovated the house with the intention of selling it before putting it on the market in May 2023.
The house is also quite close to Joel's hometown of Hicksville, which is also in Oyster Bay.
Joel currently owns a home in Manalapan, Florida, although he has reportedly been eyeing other properties in the state as well.

The singer made headlines in November when he took his young daughters to Taylor Swift's performance.
He shares Della Rose, eight, and Remy Anne, six, with wife Alexis Roderick, who he tied the knot with in 2015.
Joel admitted he 'got really cool dad points' after taking his little ones to Swift's Tampa stop during a chat People at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame, where an exhibit in his honor opened Friday.
The star also opened up about Taylor and her performance, saying, “Oh, she's amazing. She's really good. We'll probably visit her again.'
