Billson’s collapses leaving owners devastated
Today we have made the incredibly difficult decision to place Billson’s into voluntary administration.
In 2017, Felicity and I moved to Beechworth with a dream to restore the historic brewery and create a special experience for everyone who visited.
Together with the team we have put our heart and soul into Billson’s and we are proud of everything we have achieved.
Over the course of 7 years, everyone’s hard work and passion has resulted in overwhelming support from people across Australia and some pretty incredible business growth. Unfortunately, that growth has masked several mistakes we made along the way as our systems and processes have failed to keep up. We are ultimately responsible for these mistakes and we know we have let people down. We are devastated and sorry.
We are devastated by the stress this decision will undoubtedly cause our team, our suppliers, our customers and our fans. We have tried everything to avoid this situation over the last 6 months, including restructuring twice, but we now believe this is the necessary step to survive.
The brewery has stood proud for over 150 years and has undoubtedly weathered many more perilous times. The challenges we have faced in 2024 have been enormous and incomprehensible in scale. We will do everything we can to get through this, so that Billson’s can emerge more resilient as a business, ready to last for another century.
We know how difficult the current environment is for everyone. With so many family businesses teetering on the brink, any support you can offer your local businesses in any way will mean more now than ever.
We plan to keep our location open 7 days a week and our online store operating as normal. We will continue to supply our fans through all of our wonderful customers in liquor stores and locations across the country.
Thank you so much for your support over the years, it really means the world to us. Despite our many shortcomings we will never give up. With all its remarkable local history we believe Billson’s will come through this and be enjoyed by people for a long time to come.
