Buffalo Bills star Shaq Lawson has apologized for pushing a Philadelphia Eagles fan who allegedly made death threats against him and other Bills players.

Following Buffalo’s 37-34 loss to Philadelphia on Sunday, images emerged on social media of Lawson and other Bills defensemen confronting the fan on the sideline during the game.

“Those of you who know me know that I am all about the fans, and I have great respect for the game I play and my opponents,” the defensive end wrote on Instagram on Monday before making his account private.

‘Before the match started yesterday, a fan stood behind our bench and made life-threatening comments towards us and our families. We asked Philadelphia security to remove the fan, but he was allowed to stay for the entire game.

‘In the end our emotions overflowed and I made a mistake. I apologize for that, but there are certain boundaries that should not be crossed.’

Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips was first spotted facing the fan as tempers flared during a tense overtime thriller in Philadelphia. The Bills suffered an embarrassing loss at Lincoln Financial Field, where Jalen Hurts sealed a 37-34 win for the Eagles after Jake Elliott tied the game with 20 seconds left.

Before Hurts scored the winning touchdown, several Bills players walked to the stands to confront an Eagles fan who seemed to goad them during the game.

In a clip that has gone viral on social media, Phillips turns on the supporter and gets in their face after apparently taking offense to something they said.

He is then joined by several of his Buffalo teammates, including Lawson, who at one point shoves the fan before walking away.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott also commented on the incident during his regularly scheduled press conference when he said, “Yes, obviously a very unfortunate situation.”

‘It’s a shame that that happens especially during a match. And what I am aware of is that people were asked to have the fan removed, but nothing was done. So ultimately, it’s not for us to worry about that right now. It’s just a shame that that happens during a match.’

Phillips also took to Instagram to accuse the fan of making death threats.

“I love the crowd, I love loud fans, it makes the game fun,” Phillips wrote on Instagram on Monday. ‘But there is one thing I will not tolerate: anyone who threatens me or my family. This is a line that should not be crossed.”
