Billie Lourd pays tribute to her mother Carrie Fisher for Mother’s Day in emotional post

Billie Lourd pays tribute to her late mother and Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher in honor of Mother’s Day.

The actress, 31, took to her Instagram page and shared a photo of the couple sharing a zen moment together, along with a lengthy caption reflecting on dealing with grief and what the holidays mean for her as a mother of two means.

“Even though I’ve been a mom for almost 3 years and now have 2 kids of my own, the first thing I think of when I hear Happy Mother’s Day is her,” the American Horror Story star began.

She continued, “Even though it’s been over 6 years since she passed away, when I first wake up this still feels like her day – not mine.” But as the day progresses, I remember that it’s my day too.’

Lourd went on to talk about her two children — son Kingston, two, and daughter Jackson, five months — who she shares with husband Austen Rydell, 31.

Mother’s Day: Billie Lourd paid tribute to her late mother Carrie Fisher in honor of Mother’s Day by reflecting on grief and what the holiday means to her as a mother of two

“I am a mother of two magical little creatures whom I adore to the core of my heart and there is nothing that brings me more joy than being their mother. And even though she’s not here, it’s still her day. It’s our day now. And that is sad and bizarrely beautiful at the same time,” she shared with clear emotion in her words.

Sounding both philosophical and spiritual, Lourd wrote, “With the magic of life comes the reality of sorrow. It’s all intertwined’, when she thinks of her mother, who died in December 2016 after a heart attack at the age of 60.

She concluded, “So as I say every year. Happy Mother’s Day but also sad / sad / lonely / alienated / frustrated / etc Mother’s Day! Mixed Emotions Mother’s Day!!! (Hallmark or whoever makes cards – you guys should make a card out of that!!!) I send my love to anyone who needs it. You are not alone.’

Earlier this month, Lourd replaced her mother when she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

And in homage to her beloved mother’s most iconic role, her daughter attended the festivities in a black and white dress emblazoned with Princess Leia.

The descending number contained a scene from the original 1977 Star Wars, retroactively retitled Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

Lourd would tearfully share how grateful she was for her two young children to see their late grandmother in the iconic film franchise.

“I feel so lucky that even though they won’t meet my mom, they will get to know a part of her through Leia,” Lourd said, as reported by People. “And I’ll tell them the little lady on the TV is my mama, their grandmother. Leia has become a family heirloom, and not just for my family.”

She shared the star’s reveal with longtime friend and Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), 71, who seemed just as thrilled as Lourd.

A host of adoring fans were also on hand to witness the well-deserved honors including C-3PO and R2-D2 stand-ins.

Prior to Lourd’s special day of accepting her mother’s honor, a family feud erupted when Fisher’s brother Todd Fisher and her two half-sisters Joely and Tricia Leigh Fisher were excluded from the 30-seat guest list.

Just days earlier, Todd, 65, claimed his family “frozen” him out of the ceremony, and the next day Joely, 55, and Tricia Leigh, 54, took to Instagram to launch a blistering attack on Lourd due to the ‘bizarre’ decision to ban them from the event.

Lourd would confirm that it was she who chose not to invite her mother’s siblings to the ceremony, and then she hit back, claiming that the siblings “benefited from her mother’s death,” in a statement to DailyMail.com saying they had. deeply hurt her’ with their actions in the wake of losing her mother.

After apologizing to people who had to read about the family feud, Lourd shared how she “felt the need to publicly defend myself against these family members.” But alas, since they attacked me publicly, I must respond publicly. The truth is that I did not invite them to this ceremony. They know why.’

In his statement, Todd disputed the allegation, saying, “We made every effort to talk to Billie’s team about the invitation before making any public comments.”

“Billie saying she was publicly assaulted by me is not the case, I was just expressing my pain and disappointment at not being invited. And to go on to say we were NOT invited and “we know why!” I had no idea what her reasons were.’

Fisher’s star, the 2,754th on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in the Motion Pictures category, was placed on Hollywood Boulevard near the El Capitan Theater, not far from Hamill’s and her late mother Debbie Reynolds.

Born into Hollywood royalty, as the daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, Fisher would follow in the footsteps of her famous parents and make her screen debut in Shampoo (1975).

Her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars (1977) and its sequel The Empire Strikes Back (1980) only came in her second and third films of her career.

The third of the original film series Return of the Jedi (1983) would be released just three years later.

In addition to her acting credits, Fisher also had a successful writing career, publishing three novels and two memoirs, including Postcards From The Edge, a semi-autobiographical novel that won her the Los Angeles Pen Award for Best First Novel. It was to be turned into a comedy drama film written by Fisher, who received two Academy Award nominations for Best Actress for Meryl Streep and Best Original Song.
