Billie Faiers complains about her ‘nightmare’ flight home from the Maldives

Billie Faiers has lamented her nightmare four-month flight home from the Maldives with her baby Margot.

The television personality took off on a lavish holiday with her husband Greg and three children, but revealed the journey back to the UK wasn’t as relaxing.

She said she was told the one crib for the whole flight was broken and she had to give the seat with it to someone else because they booked extra legroom.

Billie revealed, “So I had to hold Margot in my arms for 12 hours — Greg and Mum helped too. I just thought ‘please don’t do this to me’.’

The mum-of-three admitted on The Sam and Billie podcast, which she hosts with her sister Sam, that she was also struggling because Margot had to have her diaper changed five times.

Mother struggles: The mother of three admitted on the Sam and Billie podcast she co-hosts with her sister that she was also struggling because Margot had to have her diaper changed five times

She admitted that it wasn’t an ideal situation at all because Margot is a squirmy baby – but they had no choice.

Billie, who also has Nellie and Arthur, has already taken Margot to Dubai and has previously revealed that long-haul flights can be “intense” with her.

It comes after her sister Sam came under fire in February after she complained about her ‘tiring’ holiday in Abu Dhabi and ‘tough’ flight home in first class.

The 32-year-old influencer spent a week in the UAE on a family holiday with sister Billie and mother Suzie on a PR stay to promote the country through her social media posts.

After Sam spammed her 2.5 million followers with bikini-clad snaps on golden beaches and glimpses of her luxury hotel, Sam’s post about her flight home took on a remarkable change of pace.

She shared a selfie with nine-month-old son Edward in first-class seats, highlighting how “tough” it had been for herself and partner Paul Knightley holidaying with their baby, seven-year-old son Paul and five-year-old daughter Rosie.

She began, “The truth is, going on holiday with small children is tough, especially with a crawling baby teething.”

Sam continued, “We’ve had the most wonderful time in the sun, swimming every day, exploring, seeing the sights and eating a lot of ice cream, but it’s exhausting, remember no one said it was easy.”

“As for the flight home, Edward slept maybe 1 hour out of 7.5 hours safely to say I did everything I could to keep him entertained without crying.”

Not impressed: The post immediately angered her followers, who were quick to point out that the post seemed tone-deaf as many grappled with a cost-of-living crisis

She then thanked the “accommodating and friendly” Etihad Airways staff who had helped her when she felt “self-conscious” about flying with a baby.

Yet the post immediately angered its followers, who were quick to point out that the post seemed tone-deaf as many grappled with a cost-of-living crisis.

Other fans commented that it would have been more difficult to fly in economy and asked Sam to “read the room” and be aware of her “privilege.”

They commented: ‘This post is inaccurate, you are very privileged to travel business/first class and I recognize you work hard but to post this saying how difficult it is to travel with three children is not representative for all you dear followers, imagine me traveling / traveling with young children in the economy where up to 2 years do not even get their own seat’;

‘just be thankful you weren’t in economics!’; ‘I just don’t know how to do business!’; ‘Yes, really difficult when you’re in first class’; ‘oh shut up about tough omg such a hard life that is about staying in luxury resorts’;

‘maybe try to do it in the economy where most of your followers would be then you know it’s hard’; my heart is bleeding. Read the room Sam. The rest of us are exhausted from living during a cost-of-living crisis. [sic]’

Sam also received support from followers who noted that caring for young children is tough in any environment.

They wrote, ‘looks like you had a good time, people are jealous of you, never mind’; “whatever your class, we choose babies and children are babies and children wherever they are, but it’s nice to see that money doesn’t always make happiness, it’s nice to see the reality”;

“People get a grip if they want to pay their money, they can fly in any seat they want.

“The post is about flying in general and keeping kids entertained etc. [sic].’

The mother-of-three was quick to edit the post after the backlash, turning off the comments and changing the caption to read: “Home sweet home ❤️ @etihad @visitabudhabi #findyourpace #inabudhabi #ad ✈️.”

It’s not the first time Sam has run into trouble on a flight, having previously been berated by British Airways staff for being too loud during a trip to New York with her mother and sister.
