Bill Maher slammed rapper Macklemore’s anti-American antics as he attacked young voters for a lack of patriotism.
The comedian, 68, issued a scathing rebuke of the attitudes of America’s youth on his show Real Time with Bill Maher, singling out Macklemore for leading a “f*** America” chant at a pro-Palestine rally this week festival.
Maher said: “The protests that started as justice for Palestine have turned into a broader ‘America is the problem, we’ve ruined the whole world.’
“Last weekend… when rapper Macklemore said ‘f*** America’ everyone loved it,” he continued, labeling the rapper as “talent free.”

Maher emphasized that Macklemore’s anti-American chants took place in a country where he has the freedom to do so, and drew parallels between the rapper and the tongue-in-cheek “Queers for Palestine” protest groups.
About the “f*** America” chant, Maher said, “I’m sure it was a big hit with the queers for Gaza crowd, who are literally advocating for a government that would jail or kill you because you’re queer.”
‘From the safety of a country that does not do that.’
As the talk show host pulled out a photo of Macklemore, he added, “Yes, America, where a white guy from the suburbs could become a millionaire rapper.
‘Because here every person, regardless of race, class or gender, has the right to be talent-free.’
Macklemore, shown in March 2023 in Texas, has been highly critical of United States foreign policy as the war between Israel and Hamas has intensified
Maher mentioned the “queers for Gaza crowd,” who he said are “literally advocating for a government that would jail or kill you for being queer.”
Macklemore, real name Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, made the anti-America comment a week ago at a charity festival benefiting Palestinian refugees.
The 41-year-old Seattle resident took the stage at the Palestine Will Live Forever Festival in support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees and encouraged people to sing along “straight up.”
The rapper told the crowd he wouldn’t stop them if they did, then said, “F*** America,” as the crowd erupted in cheers.
He has been highly critical of United States foreign policy as the war between Israel and Hamas has intensified, and released a protest song titled Hind’s Hall in May 2024 in support of the 2024 pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses.
