Bill Maher allegedly REFUSED to stop smoking pot during an interview with sober Steve-O: ‘I found it upsetting’

Steve-O claimed he turned down the opportunity to appear on Bill Maher’s podcast because the host failed to smoke weed during their interview.

The 49-year-old Jackass star, who has been sober for almost 16 years, made the allegations about the comedian, 68, in a recent episode of his Wild ride! podcast.

‘I am a clean and sober man. It’s very important that I stay sober, I’m approaching sixteen years,” Steve-O told listeners. “I’m about to be sweet 16. Actually, there’s nothing I value more than my sobriety.’

The Wimbledon resident went on to explain that there is “nothing more important” to him than staying sober and recovering.

“I found it quite disturbing when Bill Maher’s podcast reached out and he was smoking weed all the time while interviewing people. I said I would love to continue there, but while I was there, out of respect for my sobriety, he was able to refrain from smoking weed. He said no and that is a deal breaker,” Steve-O claimed.

Maher noted that he was surprised that Maher didn’t forego weed for one interview, despite other podcast hosts always acceding to his request.

“Mike Tyson’s podcast is called ‘Hotboxin,’” Steve-O added. ‘Be real! All these prolific potheads, I’ve been to their shows and it wasn’t that big of a deal for them to blow marijuana smoke in my face, but for Bill Maher it was a deal breaker.”

Maher regularly smokes during Club Random interviews and has expressed support for the legalization of marijuana for decades.

Previously, Maher has seemingly respected the wishes of other guests, and footage of him telling Sheryl Crow that he would “never” light a joint in front of her has resurfaced online.

In November 2023, Steve-O said that he even finds the smell of marijuana “quite disturbing” on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

“I don’t like breathing it into my lungs and what’s worse, I like the way it smells,” he explained.

The entertainer said he always did his best to avoid really hard drugs, but he has tried almost everything.

'I am a clean and sober man. It's very important that I stay sober, I'm approaching sixteen years,” Steve-O told listeners. 'I'm about to turn sweet 16. Really, there's nothing I value more than my sobriety.”

‘I’ve never tried heroin and if I tried crack cocaine I’m pretty sure I did it wrong. “I did everything else,” he said.

“With any other illness, the best you can hope for is to get back to where you were before the illness. But for addicts, when we treat ourselves, we become a better version than before.”

He said he was at peace with dying because he had achieved so much during his career as a daring stuntman.

‘The body is not a temple. You’re supposed to drive it until the wheels fall off,” he added.
