Bill Gates enjoyed a date night with his girlfriend Paula Hurd at the star-studded presentation of the annual 2024 Breakthrough Prize this past weekend.

The ceremony featured Microsoft co-founder Gates, tech mogul Elon Musk and other Hollywood A-list business moguls, including Kim Kardashian, Margot Robbie and Olivia Wilde.

Gates arrived at the ceremony accompanied by Hurd, a philanthropist who was married to Oracle CEO Mark Hurd for 30 years until his death in 2019.

Musk, dressed in a classic suit and bow tie, struck a silly pose for photos, throwing his hands in the air and looking up.

The glittering event, held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, California, celebrates the year’s most significant scientific achievements.

Founded in 2012 by Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, and Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, among others, the Breakthrough Prize ceremony has since been dubbed the ‘Oscars of Science’, with stars gracing the red carpet every year.

Those who have made significant achievements in math, physics and science will receive $3 million annually.

Among the tech moguls and billionaires at the event are Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb, Marc Andreessen, head of the influential Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, and Brian Grazer, founder of Imagine Entertainment.

Grazer, whose filmography includes titles such as A Beautiful Mind and Apollo 13, appeared on the red carpet with his fourth wife Veronica Smiley, with whom he walked down the aisle in 2016.

Despite its focus outside showbiz, the gala also attracts a parade of A-list celebrities to grace the red carpet and present the awards.

This year’s formal gathering, hosted by James Corden, drew a formidable crowd of bold names, including none other than Margot Robbie, who was decked out in a swirling black dress.

Kim Kardashian showed off her world-famous curves in a figure-hugging white dress that showcased a generous helping of cleavage.

Lizzo was seen in a strapless black dress with a futuristic cowl, Michelle Yeoh was business chic in a white pantsuit and Glenn Close rocked a shiny gold ensemble.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom also made a glamorous appearance, with the singer, 39, wearing a black strapless dress, and the Pirates of the Caribbean star wearing a classic tuxedo.

Also on the red carpet were some of the biggest athletes, including Venus Williams, who dazzled in a bright pink tight dress, and Eileen Gu, stunning in a glittering gold dress.

Couples galore turned the evening into a date night, from Zoe Saldana who attended the party on the arm of her husband Marco Perego, to Charlie Puth who was joined by his fiancée Brooke Sansone.

Maria Sharapova was the picture of Old Hollywood elegance on the evening’s red carpet, wearing a long-sleeved metallic dress with high shoulders and a retreating sash at the waist.

Edgar Ramirez opted for the classic look of a midnight blue tuxedo, Da’Vine Joy Randolph was a feast for the eyes in a sequin mini dress and Venus Williams wowed in bubblegum pink.

Alicia Keys, resplendent in a shimmering gold number that fell trendyly off the shoulder on one side, strolled down the red carpet hand-in-hand with her bespoke husband Swizz Beatz.

Robert Downey Jr, also one of the top presenters at the Breakthrough Prize gala, shared a laugh on the red carpet with his wife of nearly two decades, Susan Downey.

Edward Norton cut a dapper figure in a black suit with matching tie and bowler hat as he got cozy for the camera with his wife Shauna Robertson, who was dressed from head to toe in black.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins was also on hand for the Breakthrough Prize, which she attended with her husband, Sam Sheridan, author of The Disaster Diaries.

Bradley Cooper was also on the A-list guest list and for his latest red carpet he brought along his seven-year-old daughter Lea De Seine, who he shares with Russian model Irina Shayk.

Damien Chazelle, the director of critically acclaimed films such as Whiplash and La La Land, could be seen alongside his wife Olivia Hamilton, who has appeared in his films.

Once the awards ceremony got underway, the audience was treated to a musical performance from none other than record producing titan David Foster, 74, who was there in the absence of his wife Katharine McPhee, 40.
