Las Vegas businessman Bill Foley has completed his £150m takeover of Bournemouth.
“I have great respect for the passion and support that the Bournemouth community shows for this club and believe that connection to the community is the foundation for the success of any sports team,” Foley said.
‘We will press on with a ‘Always Forward, Never Go Back’ approach that has defined all my endeavors.
“I am committed to working with the best football and commercial minds available to improve player development, facilities and the fan experience to put AFC Bournemouth in the best possible position to succeed.”
Foley is the owner of the NHL team, the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and president of Fidelity National Financial, one of the largest insurance companies in the US.
“At Bill Foley, we are now led by a very successful and committed individual with an impressive track record in business and sport,” said Neill Blake, chief executive of AFC Bournemouth.
We are delighted to welcome him, his family and his members to the club. We have no doubt that AFC Bournemouth are in good hands as we look to consolidate our position in the top division for seasons to come.”
Bournemouth will be the third sports team in Foley’s portfolio, joining NHL team Vegas Golden Knights and Indoor Football League franchise Vegas Knight Hawks.
Foley is best known for his success with the Golden Knights in his debut season in 2017-18.
They had the most successful season for an expansion franchise in any sport, reaching the Stanley Cup Final, before ultimately losing to the Washington Capitals.
