Bill Clinton says Laken Riley’s murder would NOT have happened if migrant suspect had been ‘vetted properly’

Former President Bill Clinton on Monday raised the issue of the death of an American female student who was allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant released into the country by the Biden-Harris administration.

The former president indicated that Trump was responsible for the death of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old student who was killed while jogging at the University of Georgia in Athens.

“You had a case in Georgia not too long ago, didn’t you? They made an ad about it, a young woman murdered by an immigrant?’ he asked.

The illegal immigrant accused of killing Riley, Jose Ibarra, illegally entered the United States from Venezuela in September 2022. He was arrested on February 22 for the murder of Laken Riley.

Clinton spoke about the issue of immigration and the high-profile murder of Riley while on the campaign trail for Vice President Kamala Harris in Georgia.

Clinton argued that Harris had at least passed the bipartisan immigration bill authored by the United States Senate.

“She’s the only candidate who actually passed a bill that would limit immigration to a certain point in any given year and then make sure that we give people a decent place to live. before people came in,” Clinton said.

Former President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress opposed the bill and ruined negotiations with Democrats on the bill after they were unhappy with the level of security the compromise legislation provided.

The Trump campaign reacted strongly to the news of Riley’s killing, blaming the Biden-Harris administration and their inability to secure the border.

Trump called Riley’s parents after her murder and even met with them before a campaign rally.

“Laken Riley would still be alive today if Joe Biden had not willfully and maliciously evacuated the borders of the United States and unleashed thousands upon thousands of dangerous criminals into our country,” Trump said at a campaign rally in March. ‘To her family tonight. I promise you that I will demand justice for Laeken. Justice for Laeken.’

Republicans in Congress who highlighted Riley’s death successfully urged President Biden to “say her name” during his State of the Union address in March.

During his speech, Biden raised a white button with Riely’s name on it, given to him by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and said her name even as he was accused of mispronouncing it.

“Killed by an illegal,” he added.

Biden later expressed regret for describing the murder suspect as illegal.

“I shouldn’t have used it illegally, it’s undocumented,” he told MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart afterwards.

When Capehart asked, “So you regret using that word?” Biden responded: “Yes.”
