The Patriots could have a new head coach this summer for the first time since 2000, as Bill Belichick's time at the helm of New England is reportedly coming to an end.

Belichick's alleged impending departure was sealed after the Patriots suffered an embarrassing 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany on Nov. 12, according to NBC Sports Boston's Tom Curran.

“When they came from Germany, the conversations I had that week made it very clear that a decision had been made,” Curran said on Monday.

“They were going to strike a chord, and at the end of the year they would part ways, for different reasons.”

New England is just one of two NFL teams mathematically eliminated from the postseason heading into Week 15.

The Patriots are 3-10, two games worse than any other AFC team.

Last Thursday's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, which snapped a five-game losing streak, won't turn the tide for Belichick, the report said.

Belichick has built more equity in New England than any other head coach at any team in the NFL, winning six Super Bowls during his Patriots tenure.

His time in New England will always be tied with that of Tom Brady, who was the Patriots' quarterback for all six championships.

After Brady left for Tampa Bay in 2020, the Patriots have not won a playoff game.

Brady won Super Bowl LV with the Buccaneers and Belichick's coaching record after Brady's departure is 28-35.

The Patriots' worst season under Belichick was in 2000, where they finished with a 5-11 record.

With the remaining games against Kansas City, Buffalo and Denver, it looks like New England will set a record low, letting go of Belichick in the process.
