Several trains were canceled and diverted after more than 12 coaches of 12506 Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express derailed near Raghunathpur station in Bihar’s Buxar district on Wednesday. In this accident, six people lost their lives and more than 100 people were injured.
Six victims have been confirmed
The casualties in the incident were confirmed by Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar. The SP asked hospitals in Buxar, Ara and Patna, including PMCH, AIIMS and IGIMS in the state capital, to keep beds ready for the injured.

The rescue operation is over
The cause of the derailment is not yet known. However, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnau informed X that the rescue and evacuation operation was over.
In one of his other X posts, the railway minister tweeted, “Rescue operation is on full swing at Buxar derailment site. NDRF, SDRF, district administration, railway officials and locals are working as one team. The injured were transferred to a hospital. Operational War Room.”

How did the accident happen?
On Wednesday, around 12 coaches of the Delhi-Kamakhya Northeast Express derailed and around six people were killed and more than 100 injured.
According to the latest report, the possible cause of the derailment was poor track maintenance or failure at a track change point. East Central Railways Chief Public Relations Officer Birendra Kumar said the railway commission is assessing the technical aspect of the derailment.
