Big W fans are obsessed with a $14 perfume that smells just like an exclusive $877 fragrance.
Designer Brands Fragrance Red Baccara ($14 for 100 ml) is said to smell just like Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s cult designer perfume Baccarat Rouge 540, which retails for between $280 and $877.
Megan NicollsAn Australian who regularly shares beauty tips online raved about the ‘crazy’ new Big W perfume that lasts all day.
“It’s obviously not going to be the same or wear the same, but I know it’s going to be pretty close,” Megan said in a video.
She then unpacked the bottle of Designer Brands Fragrance, which bears a striking resemblance to the original Baccarat Rogue 540 crystal bottle.
‘Oh my god, I can smell it already. It’s so, so close. It’s not that strong, but honestly quite nice… Very similar.’
“That’s insane, I could literally wear that every day.”
Red Baccara has subtle notes of jasmine and saffron before moving into a woody blend of amber and cedar. It evokes the jasmine, saffron, cedarwood and amber that make Baccarat Rogue 540 so desirable.
Megan Nicolls said Big W’s ‘crazy’ Red Baccara fragrance was an affordable version of the exclusive designer perfume
Fans of the Big W perfume have said that Red Baccara ($14) is nearly identical to the famous Baccarat Rogue 540 fragrance that costs hundreds of dollars
The beauty fan said the generous 100ml bottle would last her a long time and was an “amazing” bargain.
She was also very excited about the other $14 knockoffs of popular Big W fragrances, such as: Black Opium, Alien, Mademoiselle and Daisy by Marc Jacobs.
Fans of Red Baccara can’t get enough of this ‘dramatic’ fragrance that’s selling like hotcakes at Big W nationwide.
‘Love love love! Warm and soft. Doesn’t last as long as you’d like as it’s lovely in my opinion. Great buy, thank you,’ said one.
“I love it, it’s an interesting scent with depth, it lasts all day and I absolutely love it,” agreed another.
‘My sister has the original and I bought this to compare. I let my whole family smell it to compare. Overall they thought this was better than the original. Definitely worth the money, can’t beat it,’ added a third.
However, some fans of the original perfume said it was still “lovely” enough to be worth the cost, and that they only used it on very special occasions.
It’s not the first time the bargain store has wowed cash-strapped Australians with its “epic” range of counterfeit products.
Many people were stunned to discover affordable versions of luxury designer fashion at Big W, with hundreds rushing to snap up these bargains.
Shoppers have noticed styles similar to those from Aje, Peter Alexander, Aere, Jag, Levi’s and more.
