Big Time Rush star Kendall Schmidt welcomes first child with wife Mica… four months after tying the knot

Kendall Schmidt and his wife Mica von Turkovich are now parents of a healthy baby girl.

On Saturday, the Big Time Rush star announced on Instagram that Mica had given birth to their first child.

“Maple,” the proud new parents wrote in the joint post, along with two photos of their adorable little baby.

For the cover photo, Schmidt stood out of sight as he held up the newborn, who looked super cute in a gray top and matching white and gray patterned pants.

They also keep their baby warm and cozy by adding a hat to the mix, as well as a pair of oversized white socks.

Schmidt and von Turkovich met in 2012, but didn’t start dating until three years later.

They had been an item for about seven years by the time the Wichita, Kansas, native got down on one knee and popped the question at Radio City Music Hall in New York City in June 2022, while Big Time Rush was on tour.

Schmidt was hesitant to go public for a while and surprised fans last November with two back-to-back big announcements, including the revelation that he and Von Turkovich had quietly tied the knot.

He and his new bride would also share the news that they were expecting their first child, along with a black and white social media post from the couple on their wedding day.

“Grateful for my baby ,” Schmidt wrote in the caption alongside a photo of the newlyweds as they sat next to each other on a bench outside, with floral arrangements surrounding the furniture.

The same day, he shared a joint post with a video of Von Turkovich standing in a sunny field wearing a long-sleeved cropped shirt that highlighted her growing baby bump.

“Grateful for our baby,” the couple shared, which was set to a snippet of The Carpenters’ classic hit They Long To Be (Close to You) playing in the background.

Schmidt is best known for his role as Kendall Knight in Nickelodeon’s teen sitcom Big Time Rush and as one-fourth of the boy band of the same name.

Nickelodeon signed Big Time Rush – starring Schmidt and James Maslow, Logan Henderson and Carlos PenaVega – to a recording contract in 2009, while simultaneously signing them to star in the television series of the same name.

Then the network, known for its kid-friendly programming, teamed up with Columbia/Epic Label Group to produce the series and add original music to the show.

Big Time Rush, which featured the group’s first promotional single Big Time Rush in the pilot episode, ultimately ran for four seasons from November 2009 to July 2013.

During their career, the group has released four studio albums, including BTR (2010), Elevate (2011), 24/Seven (2013) and Another Life (2023), which came after a seven-year hiatus from performing together.
