Big Brother’s Katie Williams ‘extremely unwell’ after catching virus while on holiday in Columbia

Katie Williams has shared snippets of her seemingly perfect trip across America with her friend Georgia Hull.

However, the Big Brother star opened up to her Instagram followers on Saturday and said things have been going very downhill in South America.

Unfortunately, Katie, 27, became extremely ill after being stricken with a virus that has hit the coast of Columbia.

The sprinter shared a carousel of photos from her journey, including one that shows her lying on a bed at a medical center.

Katie said she wanted to post the photos to show that travel doesn’t always go according to plan.

She wrote, ‘I’m not going to show you the real highlight > I’m going to show you the week in real life.

“Most of it was spent indoors in our accommodation with a virus that has reached the coast of Colombia. I was extremely unwell.’

Although Katie said she’s had a really rough week, she’s thankful for her friend Georgia, who put their travel plans on hold to take care of her.

While listing other things she is grateful for, the athlete wrote, “Our little jungle house, listening to the sounds of birds and wildlife, being able to swim, eating the nutritious food on site, sleeping with the sound of rain, drinking fresh coconuts from the tree, meeting other tourists from all over the world and most of all my now healthy body and its resilience.

“Health really is our only currency.”

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Katie said she is now on the mend and excited to explore the beautiful country.

She added, “I love Columbia, I don’t want people to be afraid to go in case they get sick. I had great medicines that quickly got me back on track.”

Before traveling to South America, the happy couple enjoyed a trip to Los Angeles.

Last Tuesday, Katie shared a series of photos on her Instagram as she explored West Hollywood with makeup artist Georgia.

In one photo, the couple packed up on the PDA as they shared a passionate kiss while relaxing by the pool.

Katie also shared a sweet selfie as they boarded the plane for their flight.

In a third image, Georgia wrapped her arms around Katie as they posed for a mirror selfie on a night out.

Katie debuted her first same-sex relationship with girlfriend Georgia in August 2021.

The reality TV star told Daily Mail Australia at the time that she “couldn’t be more in love if she tried.”

“I couldn’t be more in love if I tried. She’s my best friend, my biggest supporter and my partner in crime,” Katie said.

‘We really match each other’s energy. We’ve had a lot of personal ups and downs during the lockdown and we’ve helped each other through. We laughed, we cried, we danced and embraced it all.”

Speaking of makeup artist Georgia as her very first girlfriend, Katie said they developed “an emotional connection like no other.”

“She’s actually my first girlfriend. Before Georgia, I’d dated guys! It’s so different; it’s an emotional connection like no other,” she said.

“I’m really proud of how we handled our relationship. I was cheated on and questioned by Big Brother about my sexuality, and I stand strong in who I am and who I love.”
