Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton has said she wants to stay single after two failed engagements and a divorce since leaving the reality show.

The television personality told fans late last year that she and ex-fiancé Michael Strutt called off their engagement after their relationship broke up.

And just months after joking that she “needs a new husband,” the mother-of-one has now completely renounced any relationship for the foreseeable future.

Ex-glamor model Chantelle told The sun that even though she’s not in a relationship with anyone, she thinks that’s “okay” and instead focuses on living in the present.

“I’m not desperate for someone. I want someone to add something to my life, not take from me what I’ve had before,” she said

“I don’t allow anyone to cause trouble in my life.

“I’d rather be alone than sit on the couch with someone who drives you around the corner and you don’t want to be romantic with just to say ‘oh I’m with someone’.”

The reality star, who appeared on the celebrity spin-off in 2006 as the sole civilian contestant, married singer Preston after they met in the house, but they split just nine months later.

Chantelle recently revealed that she still has the wedding dress from her big day 16 years earlier, and she “won the game of love” by meeting Preston during her time on the show.

During a speech on This Morning in August, Chantelle reflected on being the only citizen contestant in the celebrity edition who had to convince her roommates that she was really famous. She was going to win that series.

She told hosts Rochelle Humes and Vernon Kay, “I didn’t know what they had planned for me until I walked into the house, the only thing, I was told they were half celebrities half normal people.”

“My goal was to just stay home, the confidence I had when I was so young — I wish I had some of that now.”

Chantelle then reflected on her short-lived marriage to Preston, although the couple later reunited in the show’s Ultimate series in 2010 and have remained on good terms ever since.

When asked if she would do it again, Chantelle added, “I would do it again in a heartbeat, I need a new husband.”

Chantelle also shares a nine-year-old daughter with her ex-fiancé Alex Reid.

She broke up with Alex just two days after he was arrested at their Brentwood home on suspicion of causing criminal damage to the couple’s home in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The 29-year-old took to Twitter in September 2012, just over 10 years ago, to inform fans that she felt she had no choice but to part with the cage fighter.

Chantelle wrote: “Unfortunately I have had no choice but to end my relationship with Alex.”
