Joe Biden’s transgender health secretary praised a gender-affirming health care clinic in Alaska that wants to replace the word “mom” with the phrase “egg producer.”
Dr. Rachel Levine, 65, is the top openly transgender federal official in the country — and has long supported providing gender-affirming care to minors, arguing that the treatment is “life-saving.”
Levine visited Identity Alaska – a not-for-profit community center that provides resources and health care for the “LGBTQIA2S+” community representing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/question marks, intersex, asexual, and two-spirited people.
She appeared on Aug. 6 — and praised the clinic’s “tireless” efforts to provide “life-saving medical care.”

She said, according to Fox news“These inspiring people work tirelessly to create a more equitable future, where all people living in the US have equal access to life-saving medical care.”
The health secretary, who grew up as a man, went through puberty as a man, went to medical school, got married and became a father before deciding to switch.
The Alaska-based company she visited promotes the idea that children should learn that doctors “assign” babies’ sex by making a “guess” — while also promoting the use of “gender-inclusive biology.”
Teachers and educators should talk to children “without assuming that there are only two genders and that everyone within a gender is the same.”
Instead of using the word “mother” in these conversations, they recommend using terms like “egg producer” or “carrier.”
In an effort to de-gender the language, the style guide also says to use words like “gestational parent” and “birth parent.”
The clinic also recommends that children be taught to use proper biological terms for body parts. For example, instead of “male reproductive organs,” use “penis and testicles.”
Instead of using the word “men,” their phrasebook suggests people use the term “XY individuals.”

The section of the website promoted by Identity Alaska states, “This website aims to compile resources and help science educators, students, learners of all types, parents, guardians, and everyone involved in supporting and learning to to grow a more inclusive biology curriculum, to bring them into contact with each other. .’
The company also promotes people dropping the term “gender reveal party” — urging new families to call them “embryogenesis parties” or “chromosome reveal parties.”
Levine was made a four-star Admiral of the Public Health Service. She tends to wear her admiral’s uniform during public appearances.
Just last month, Levine said kids can go through “the wrong puberty.”
“The treatment options for gender-affirming care for transgender youth are truly evidence-based,” Levine said.
She had been asked about the possibility of deterring transgender youth from seeking body-altering treatment until at least the age of 18.
Levine has previously said that so-called gender-affirming care for minors has the “biggest support” of the Biden administration.
Levine’s support for gender-affirming care for minors would, in some cases, take away the opportunities Levine had as a man for decades before transitioning, her critics have noted.
The ABC host asked Levine, “What would you say to people who think they’re being reasonable by saying ‘why can’t kids just wait until they’re 18?’

“Puberty is hard and puberty is hard. What if you go through the wrong puberty? What if you feel inside that you are a woman, but are now going through male puberty?’ Levine replied.
The assistant secretary continued by proclaiming that ‘gender affirmative care is medical care’.
‘Gender-affirming care is mental health care. Gender affirming care is literally suicide prevention.
“A supportive adult can make all the difference. Now you might hope that it could be a parent or a relative. Sometimes it’s a teacher or a coach or a religious counselor or someone else in their life.”
Levine added that no medical procedures are performed on “prepubescent children.” Because of the standard of care, they can investigate this with therapy.’
While no surgery is performed on children under 13, puberty blockers are given to children before they reach puberty.
She also revealed that she is glad she waited so long to transition as it allowed her to start a family.
“I don’t regret it because if I had switched when I was younger I wouldn’t have had my kids. I can’t imagine life without my kids,” Levine said during a 2019 speech on gender concerns.
Despite her own experience, she believes it should be made easier for other children to begin treatment as teens, even if it costs them their ability to have children of their own later in life.
