Biden’s migration deception: Ex-border chief rips mobile app

The Biden administration has managed to twist the narrative at the border by guiding all asylum seekers through a glitchy mobile app and stopping chaotic scenes of illegal entries at border crossings.

Former acting Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Commissioner Mark Morgan told DailyMail.com that President Joe Biden was “smart” to implement a program that reduced the number of shocking images of illegal entries between ports of entry on the southern border .

He said Biden has essentially found a way to legalize illegal activity.

CBP One is a program launched by Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that allows migrants to make an appointment to turn themselves in to authorities at ports of entry for asylum appointments.

But some are getting interviews up to 10 years from now — meaning they’re free to stay in the United States.

Critics have pointed out that the number of allowed entries per month has increased exponentially in recent times and that crossing between ports remains.

“It’s still a downright catastrophe between the ports of entry,” Morgan said.

In addition, after submitting asylum applications to their CBP One appointment, migrants are given a court date for their asylum hearing that is many years in the future.

At that point, they could have already disappeared to live indefinitely in the United States without papers.

Morgan warns that most migrants make fraudulent asylum applications and use the process to gain entry into the country.

“They’ve legalized otherwise illegal activities,” Morgan explained of the government’s new border policy and use of the CBP One app.

“They have simply moved the burden from between ports to ports, and they have called it a legal path when in reality it is a perversion of the law,” he told DailyMail.com in an interview on Thursday. “And they know it’s a perversion of the law.”

He claimed that the government is “doing nothing” to actually address the border crisis.

“Their strategy is not to slow down the flow,” Morgan said. “Their strategy is not to apply consequences to those who enter illegally or knowingly make false claims with the CBP One app.”

The CBP’s Office of Field Operations (OFO) takes appointments and processes migrants.

Morgan notes that OFO is extremely efficient and is always learning new ways to process migrants faster.

In turn, he says the administration will continue to increase the number of migrants it illegally allows to cross the border each month.

The CBP One app was launched in October 2020.

Last month, the CBP almost doubled the number of migrants per month who were able to make appointments via the CBP app and were allowed to enter the country.

Initially, after launch, the number of migrants who could secure meeting appointments each month was capped at 20,000. But in June, that number jumped to about 40,000 — with 1,350 appointments a day.

That new policy lasted just a month before DHS announced this week that it was pushing the numbers back up.

Now CBP One allows 1,450 appointments per day. This amounts to at least 43,500 appointments per month.

Some migrants also said they found a way around the app by claiming they have a language, educational or technological barrier that prevents them from booking an appointment online in advance.

“If your policy in this country is that everyone who comes to our borders is eventually released into the United States, then they will keep coming,” Morgan insisted. “It doesn’t matter if you illegally enter and submit a fraudulent claim and it is processed and released, or if you walk to a lawful point of entry and submit a fraudulent claim and your process is released. The endgame is the same. They will be released into the United States and not prioritized for deportation, and they will remain here indefinitely. That’s what’s happening here.’

“So they call it a lawful path and they claim victory,” he lamented.

“And a lot of people just nod.”

“There is a level of ignorance of not having a clue,” he said of those who agree that Biden and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have now adequately handled the crisis.

Morgan admitted that the CBP One plan is “extremely intelligent, both in terms of processes and messaging, to really twist the story and develop policies that make sense on the surface. When it’s really just a big lie, it’s a big game.’
