President Joe Biden’s future in the 2024 race could be decided this week as Democrats return to Washington for the first time since his disastrous debate that sparked calls to oust him.

The 81-year-old’s party faces the painful question of whether he is fit for the job and whether he can defeat Donald Trump in November.

Four more House Democrats called on Biden to withdraw from the race this weekend, while others said the president has little time left to prove he is the right man for the job.

Meanwhile, Jill Biden and Kamala Harris ā€” who would likely be the nominee if Joe withdraws ā€” are campaigning and furiously defending each other.

Jen Psaki, President Joe Biden’s former spokesperson, admitted Sunday that his interview with ABC may not have done enough to prevent calls for him to resign.

She opened her show on MSNBC by saying:

I would say that things were going well for the president. In many ways, the people who watched saw what they wanted to see, because to some, he looked better than he did in the debate. He did. He was clearer. He seemed much better prepared to make his case against Trump. There were also moments ā€” not just one ā€” that did not go well.

Psaki added that Biden appeared to be “in denial” about his position in the polls compared to his rival Donald Trump.

When the interview ended, we were all in a kind of purgatory for a moment. It was better than the debate, not a home run at all. Even if it was a home run, one interview has absolutely no power to change the perception of the 72 percent of voters, according to a CBS poll, who do not believe Biden has the mental or cognitive health to serve. Even the White House and the campaign know that

She also indicated that the panic within the Democratic Party will not abate anytime soon.

The questions I know I get in text messages from friends, from family are twofold: Whatā€™s going to happen and whatā€™s the best path forward? And Iā€™m not going to sit here this afternoon and tell you that I know the answer to both of those questions.

Major blow for ailing Biden as FIVE other Democrats call on him in private conversation to step aside – and reveal who they think should be the presidential nominee

And most agreed that Vice President Kamala Harris59, should be the nominee instead.

Kamala Harris’s big White House blunder comes as Democrats struggle to find a viable alternative to Biden, 81, amid calls for the ailing president to resign

Several Democrats ā€” including Rep. James Clyburn, of South Carolina, and Sen. Laphonza Butler, of California ā€” have suggested that the 59-year-old vice president would be best suited to run against Trump in the general election if Biden agrees to step down.

Tim Ryan, a former Ohio congressman, has even called on the 81-year-old commander in chief to ā€œrip off the Band-Aidā€ and promote Harris immediately.

But in the four years since Biden took office, his administration has done precious little to promote Harris and properly prepare her to lead the United States. according to The Atlantic.

That failure came despite the president’s promise to make way for a new generation of Democratic leaders.

Top Democrat: ‘Time is running out’ for Biden

A leading Democrat who has called on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race has said the deadline for making that decision is coming very soon.

Rep. Mike Quigley of Illinois told Politico’s Playbook on Sunday evening:

“People need to take action. This is not a time for contemplation. Time is running out to make this process effective, and frankly, it’s time for tough love.”

Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy, who has not called on Biden to withdraw, says Joe needs to prove to the country he is up to the job.

Last weekend he said on CNN’s State of the Union:

I think the president needs to do more. Iā€™m not advising this campaign, but if I were, I would probably suggest that the president go out and have a town hall, a press conference ā€” show the country that heā€™s still the old Joe Biden, one of the best retail politicians this country has ever seen.

The president says he can. I trust he can. I think this week is going to be really crucial for him to answer those remaining questions.

Biden’s staff gives him detailed instructions with pictures and large letters telling him how to “enter and exit a room” during planned events

It has emerged that President Joe Biden is being given detailed instructions with pictures and large letters on how to enter venues ahead of planned events.

A template provided to event staff and obtained by Axios shows Biden’s aides drafting a short document with a photo showing his precise “walk to the stage.”

The template reportedly also contained memos showing the “view from the stage” and the “view from the audience,” which were also accompanied by photographs.

The White House claims the short memos are ā€œbasic approachesā€ that are crucial to Bidenā€™s ā€œmoving forwardā€ as president. The White House says the same approach is being used by Vice President Kamala Harrisā€™ team.

However, some event staff have said they were “surprised” by the memos and do not believe an “experienced politician” needs verbal and visual guidance on “how to enter and exit a space.”
