Biden to erase medical debt from credit reports in latest effort to boost election hopes

The Biden administration will announce a rule today to remove medical debt from credit reports.

The rule could boost millions of Americans’ chances of buying a car and help 22,000 more people get approved for a mortgage each year, the government says.

It will be announced later today by Vice President Kamala Harris and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Rohit Chopra.

Biden has previously been accused of trying to “buy” votes with debt cancellation measures such as his student loan relief plan.
