Biden says ‘I plan to RUN’ in 2024: President, 80, reveals plans to Al Roker but admits ‘we’re not ready to announce it yet’ – despite mounting questions about his health and age
- Biden told NBC’s Al Roker on Monday that he “plans” to run in 2024
- The announcement came ahead of the annual White House Easter Egg Roll
- Admitted to Roker that ‘we’re not ready to announce it yet’
President Joe Biden on Monday gave his strongest indication yet that he is running for another term in the White House, but admitted he was “not ready to announce it yet.”
Biden, 80, said he has “plans” for reelection during an interview with the Today Show’s Al Roker ahead of the annual White House Easter Egg Roll with Jill Biden by his side.
The president has said multiple times that he plans to rejoin in 2024, despite questions about his health and age, but has given no indication of when he will formally announce his bid.
Roker asked him, “I was wondering, Mr. President, will you join the Easter egg hunt after 2024?”

“I plan on making at least three or four more Easter eggs? Maybe five,” Biden said. ‘Maybe six. Damn it. Don’t know.’
Roker asked him if he planned to start running in 2024.
“I’ll either be the guy who rolls the egg or the guy who pushes them out,” Biden joked.
“I plan to participate, Al,” he said, “but we can’t announce it yet.”
Biden is the oldest president in history, and during his annual physical examination earlier this year, his doctor declared him fit to be president.
There was originally talk of Biden announcing his re-election campaign in February, shortly after his State of the Union address. Then the talk was that it would be in April.
But his packed schedule shows no timeline for an announcement. The president will leave for Ireland on Tuesday, where he will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement and visit the land of his ancestors.

By the end of the month, he and Jill Biden will host their second state dinner.
It’s unclear why he hasn’t announced anything yet or when he will.
Biden has an average approval rating of 44% in the RealClearPolitics Poll Average.
He has not drawn a serious primary challenger, although Marianne Williamson and Robert Kennedy Jr. announced bids.
