President Joe Biden again refused Friday to acknowledge the grandchild who is the product of a relationship between son Hunter and Lunden Roberts, this time at an event celebrating a blockbuster in women’s sports.
The president spoke of athletes in his own family as he celebrated Louisiana State University’s NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship Team, with the team and its star Angel Reese behind him.
He said that “all the real athletes” in his own family were women.
“It’s really nice to see you, as I have four granddaughters, where we had some pretty good athletes. I was not a bad athlete. My brothers weren’t. All the real athletes in this family were women,” he said.
Biden has seven grandchildren, five of whom are girls. The fifth, Navy Joan, is Hunter’s daughter. Hunter and her mother are embroiled in a child support lawsuit.

He has already paid child support following a DNA test, but argues in court that he has undergone a “substantial material change” in his finances.
Roberts is a former stripper who won a reported $2.5 million settlement from Hunter after taking him to court in 2019. Their 2017 fling coincided with a time when Hunter said he struggled with drugs and alcohol.
The comment came during an event that was interrupted when Sa’Myah Smith, a freshman on the team, passed out in the middle of Biden’s remarks.
“She’s fine — happens often,” Biden assured as a medic came to treat the situation.

He and first lady Jill Biden gushed about the team and its star, after Jill Biden’s comment about inviting both LSU and his defeated rival Iowa sparked an online spat with Reese.
The game scored almost 10 million viewers.
“We saw hope, we saw pride, we saw purpose,” Biden said. He also joked with Reese, telling her to play one-on-one in the White House with her cousin, Jordan Hawkins, a member of the University of Connecticut men’s winning team.
Biden also failed to acknowledge his seventh grandchild during the “bring your child to work” day at the White House.
“I have six grandchildren. And I love them. And I speak to them every day. No joke,’ he said.
