Biden plans to hold glitzy fundraisers with Obama, Julia Roberts, George Clooney and the Clintons to maintain money advantage over Trump

President Joe Biden’s campaign has arranged for two of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities – Julia Roberts and George Clooney – to appear at a fundraiser in Los Angeles next month.

NBC News reported this on Sunday that Clooney and Roberts will join former President Barack Obama at a donor event on the West Coast in the coming weeks, while Bill and Hillary Clinton will headline a similar event on the East Coast in early summer.

The Biden campaign — which raised a record $26 million in late March when it booked Radio City Music Hall for an event featuring Biden, Obama and Bill Clinton — is using Democratic have-hitters and A-list stars to boost its financial advantage over of the US to maintain. campaign of former President Donald Trump.

“We’re under no illusions that he won’t close the gap,” a Biden campaign adviser told the network.

The Biden campaign ended March with $85.5 million in cash after raising $43.8 million that month, nearly triple what the Trump campaign raised.

When donations to the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee were included, the Democratic advantage was $131 million instead of $67 million.

But after Biden’s Radio City Music Hall fundraiser, Trump decided to combine it with his own expensive fundraiser at billionaire investor John Paulson’s Palm Beach home.

Although it lacked the star power of the ex-presidents, the Trump campaign said it essentially doubled what the Biden campaign earned — which would reportedly bring in $50.5 million to the campaign’s coffers.

That number is not yet supported by Federal Election Commission filings, which have a mid-July deadline.

Soon after, Trump headed to Atlanta for a big-dollar fundraiser in the upscale Buckhead neighborhood, attended by former U.S. Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, state Lt. Gov. Burt Jones and GOP megadonor and Home Depot employee. founder Bernie Marcus.

That fundraiser, along with another held in Orlando, raised $15 million, according to a campaign official told Fox News.

More recently, Trump came under fire for allegedly telling a group of oil and gas executives that he would roll back Biden’s environmental regulations — suggesting they would raise $1 billion for his campaign as a courtesy.

The Washington Post reports this that the conversation took place during a ’round energy table’ in mid-April at Mar-a-Lago.

CNBC reported this in March about some of Trump’s donor problems, including the fact that small-dollar donations have declined.

In 2023, the Trump campaign raised 62.5 percent less cash from small-dollar donations than in 2019, the year before the presidential election.

But in recent weeks, Trump has used his highly publicized Stormy Daniels hush money case in New York to send out a number of fundraising pleas, which could help lure small donors back into the fold.

The RNC told NBC that it expects the April total, along with the Trump campaign, to total $76 million.

The Biden campaign is expected to release fundraising totals closer to the May 20 deadline.
