Biden picks up anti-Israel book during Black Friday shopping outing with grandson Beau and family

Outgoing President Joe Biden’s Black Friday shopping trip stunned onlookers when he carried a book deemed anti-Israel.

Biden was seen holding The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonial Conquest and Resistance, 1917-2017 by Columbia University Professor Emeritus Rashid Khalidi at a local bookstore.

The book sharply criticizes what it describes as the Zionist movement’s acts of “settler colonialism” on behalf of Israel, calling what is happening in Palestine “the oppression of one people by another.”

One reviewer described it as ‘a highly partisan report from a Palestinian perspective.’

The purchase was seen as strange by Biden, who has called himself a staunch Zionist for decades and once said: “If there were no Israel, we would have to invent one.”

Those who were put off by the sight of the president holding the book in his arms was the author Khalidi.

“My response is that this is four years too late,” he told the New York Post.

Khalidi is also not exactly a fan of the returning president’s views on the subject, as he calls Donald Trump a “mouthpiece” for Israel.

It is unclear whether the book was purchased by Biden himself or by one of his many family members who accompanied him on the trip.

Biden joined millions of Americans looking for a Black Friday deal by shopping on Nantucket with first lady Jill and son Hunter.

His grandson Beau, 4, sprang into action, leading his grandfather by the hand through the cobblestone streets of Nantucket.

The Biden family ended their day of shopping with the Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the city. Afterwards, Hunter helped his father step onto a small platform to take a photo with the children’s choir, who entertained the crowd with traditional Christmas carols.

The 82-year-old commander-in-chief started the day with dinner at The Brotherhood of Thieves restaurant during his annual wealthy enclave in Massachusetts.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump spent part of the day after his bash with Elon Musk, son Barron and wife Melania at Trump International Golf Club West in Palm Beach

Biden strolled the stores, holding hands with his grandson Beau and petting a dachshund, as pedestrians looked on and shouted “we love you, Joe.” At one point, Biden even held the dog to pose for a photo with his owner. Hunter took the photo.

The Biden family celebrated Thanksgiving the same way they have for the past four decades, with a holiday on Nantucket.

On Thursday, like every year, he visited a fire station to deliver pumpkin pies.

He urged Trump to reconsider his tariff war with Canada and Mexico, worried about the state of the mainstream media and offered what he was grateful for

He paused to answer questions from reporters, reflect on the holidays and discuss his successor’s actions in the Oval Office.

He said he hopes Trump reconsiders his plan to impose tariffs on Mexico and Canada, saying it could “ruin” relations with close allies.

‘I hope he thinks about it again. “I think it’s a counterproductive thing to do,” he said.

“We are surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean and two allies: Mexico and Canada. The last thing we need to do is ruin those relationships.”

Biden said he thinks Chinese President Jinping Xi will be more moderate in his response. Chinese officials have said they do not want a trade war.

“We have reached a relationship with a status quo on China,” Biden noted. “We have set up a hotline between President Xi and myself, as well as an army – a direct line. One thing I’m sure about Xi is that he doesn’t want to make mistakes. I mean it sincerely.

Biden also said he thinks Trump will have an “internal reckoning” when it comes to some of his plans as president.

‘I want to ensure that this transition goes smoothly. I want to make sure it goes smoothly. All the talk about what (Trump) might or might not do — I think there might be an internal reckoning on his part… so it remains to be seen.”
