Biden makes a surprise visit to Beau’s widow and Hunter’s ex Hallie, just a week before she is set to testify in the federal gun trial of the president’s son

President Joe Biden stopped to see Hallie Biden, the late Beau Biden’s widow and son Hunter’s ex, on Sunday evening on her way back to Washington, DC, just a week before she was scheduled to testify in his son’s trial.

Biden spent about 15 minutes at her home in Wilmington, Delaware. His motorcade stopped there en route to the Delaware National Guard Station, where Biden would take off on Marine One to return to the White House.

The White House did not say why Biden made the stop. His grandchildren, Natalie and Little Hunter, live with their mother. Additionally, May 30 marks the anniversary of Beau Biden’s death from cancer.

In addition to Hallie Biden, Hunter’s ex-wife Kathleen Buhle and his ex-girlfriend Zoe Kestan will also testify in the trial, in which Hunter faces three charges related to illegal gun possession. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison. He has pleaded not guilty.

The trial will begin on June 3 in Wilmington, Delaware.

Special Counsel David Weiss alleges that Hunter Biden unlawfully purchased and possessed a Colt Cobra 388PL revolver in October 2018 and made false statements on a form used for gun purchases, claiming he was not an unlawful drug user.

None of the women were named in the court documents, but it does say that “Witness 1 was previously married to the suspect” and that “she would occasionally check his car because she did not want their children to be in a car with drugs.” ‘

Hunter and Kathleen separated in October 2015, five months after Beau Biden’s death.

According to the documents, Witness 3 ‘had a romantic relationship with the suspect in October 2018, and before and after that.’

And it also references Witness 2, a woman who “previously had a romantic relationship” with Hunter and “saw the suspect regularly use crack cocaine – every 20 minutes, except when he was sleeping.”

Hallie and Hunter dated in 2017, two years after Beau Biden died of brain cancer. Hunter has said that the relationship grew out of their shared grief over Beau.

In May 2019, Hunter married South African filmmaker Melissa Cohen. Their son Beau was born in March 2020.

Witness 1 would be Buhle, 2 Hallie Biden and 3 Kestan.

It’s unclear whether Hunter will take the stand in defense of himself.

The trial is expected to last nine days.

Hunter Biden has acknowledged an addiction to crack cocaine around the time he bought the gun, but his lawyers have said he did not break the law and that the case is politically motivated.

But prosecutors scored a victory on a key point, as U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika ruled they did not have to prove he specifically used drugs on the day of the purchase.

However, Judge Noreika agreed with a defense effort to keep out other details about his past, including a child support case in Arkansas and his discharge from the Navy after a positive drug test.

Hunter Biden could also appear in court on the other coast next month for tax evasion. That process starts on June 20.

He is accused of failing to pay at least $1.4 million in taxes over four years while living an “extravagant lifestyle” during a time when he acknowledged struggling with addiction. The overdue taxes have now been paid.

If convicted in the case, Biden faces up to 17 years in prison.
