President Joe Biden is leaving behind a week of high-pressure legal drama as he prepares for an extended stay at his beach house in Rehoboth, days after his son appeared before a federal judge in his hometown of Wilmington.
The holiday will see Biden leave Washington at a time when a friend of Hunter Biden will testify before House Republicans to speak about the times Hunter put his father on speaker to impress a stable of international clients.
He will be away for a full business week booked by two weekends for a 10 day trip.
It could well provide a reprieve after a stunning week in which Hunter had to plead not guilty in court following a plea deal, while rival Donald Trump received a replacement charge of alleged conspiracy and obstruction, while longtime Biden friend Republican Senator Mitch McConnell had health problems when he was speechless in front of a row of microphones.
Biden spent hundreds of days away from Washington during his presidency, but often at his home in Wilmington. If he keeps it up, the trip will take him to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for 10 days.

That gives him the chance to ride a bike in a state park and walk on the beach with first lady Jill Biden during a heat wave that broke global and national records, to the extent that Biden held a climate event Thursday urging people to carry water, visit cold stores and visit shopping malls and cinemas.
Biden’s staff notes that the presidency follows him everywhere, so the president will continue to receive security briefings and access to aides accompanying him on the journey.
It was not immediately clear who would accompany him, although relatives usually join him in his home state. Biden failed to make any new comments about his son’s predicament after a plea deal that could have avoided jail time fell apart after damning questioning by a federal judge.
Prosecutors said they would need about two weeks to try to resolve issues, which would send the president back to D.C. for developments.

Biden traveled to Maine for a day, then flew to Dover on Friday on his way to his beach house
He may be missing out on one of the summer’s biggest stories, with his rival, former Trump, facing possible indictment in DC. case against him.
White House Press Secretary Karine-Jean Pierre only briefly mentioned the escape while briefing reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Maine. The journey brought to 38 the number of states he has visited as president.
Biden was there to attend an event to promote production, followed by a fundraiser and an early evening flight to Delaware, with the press, Secret Service agents and his staff in tow.
“Tonight the president departs Maine for Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he will remain for the next week. And we will certainly have more to say in the coming days,” she said.
