President Joe Biden is spending Father’s Day at his home in Rehoboth Beach, after riding Air Force One to his home state to his second home in Delaware and spending part of his 46th birthday at a political rally.

The president was briefly back at his beach house relaxing with family for a weekend trip, with plans to fly to San Francisco on Monday.

Should family conversations at the dinner table turn into politics, there will be a lot to discuss: A new DailyMail.com poll reveals that 71 percent of Americans and half of Democrats polled think he’s too old to be president, and polls show he is in a tight race with top Republican rivals.

He drove a car into the small town of Rehoboth early Saturday evening, briefly passing his $2.7 million beach house before heading to church for a Saturday night mass.

Visitors waited for his departure along the sidewalks to take photos and catch a glimpse. Late-arriving churchgoers had to be swept through security, with some yelling of “We love you” as he walked out.

When the mass was over, two priests in green and white robes walked out and briefly visited Biden as he left. His daughter Ashley Biden, his daughter with first lady Jill Biden, also participated in the conversation with a smile. She was accompanied by Biden’s granddaughter, Natalie, the eldest daughter of the late Beau Biden.

The dormancy comes before a spring that will mix campaign, government and diplomacy over the summer — though a White House official told DailyMail.com that the Biden camp is not expected to open a campaign office in its home state until later this summer.

“There’s a reason we’re doing this a year and a half before Election Day,” Representative Brendan Boyle (D-Pa.) told reporters at Biden’s union event. “We now have a record. It’s one thing to run for president in 2020 to talk about the things you’re going to do or promise to do. It’s another thing to have a concrete record to refer to.”

Still, his team is chasing questions as to why Biden hasn’t campaigned more since the launch of his re-election bid. The White House official noted that Barack Obama did not do his first event until 2012, the year of his re-election.

Much of the media attention has been swallowed up by the legal woes of his would-be rival, former President Donald Trump.

But Biden isn’t ready to say who he’s up against when asked about a potentially brutal campaign. “Well, it depends who the nominee is,” he told DailyMail.com.

The president could not ignore the diplomatic challenges during his trip as Foreign Minister Antony Blinken embarks on his high-stakes trip to Beijing.

Biden may have pleased Blinken’s audience by giving China’s leaders some slack on the spy balloon that shot down the US military over the Atlantic.

“I don’t think the leadership knew where it was and knew what was in it and knew what was going on. It was — I think it was more embarrassing than intentional,” he told reporters on Friday.

Next month, he heads to Vilnius, Lithuania, for the annual NATO summit as Ukraine launches its counter-offensive to try to drive Russian troops off its territory in the brutal war.
