President Joe Biden trails Pete Buttigieg in the latest poll in New Hampshire, where he is tied with Sen. Elizabeth Warren among Democrats, in a state that gave his successful 2020 campaign a rocky start.
Biden’s overall popularity is also below water among Democrats in the state, where some party leaders have warned that he could be vulnerable to an internal challenge due to his low popularity.
Biden, 80, reportedly plans to launch his presidential re-election campaign next month, with a run likely to clear much of the field, even amid some Democratic complaints about his performance.
The special counsel who investigated classified documents discovered at his home and office adds another trick, likely shutting down an attack he would have used against Trump, who was revealed to have hundreds of documents marked classified at Mar-a-Lago.

Buttigieg led likely Democrats with 23 percent at the new University of New Hampshire Granite State Survey.
Biden, who ranked fifth in New Hampshire in 2020, remains at 18 percent, tied with the liberal Warren, who has supported his agenda in the Senate.
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who visited the White House this week, is at 15 percent, with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez at 6 percent and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar at 5 percent.
That shows a rebound for Buttigieg, the telegenic Secretary of Transportation who has moved his official residence to Michigan. In July, they were nearly even, with Buttigieg at 17 and Biden at 16 percent.
Sanders barely edged out Buttigieg to win New Hampshire in 2020.
It also follows national bad press for Buttigieg, amid a series of travel crises and reports of him traveling and taking paternity leave during supply chain and travel disruptions.
The president is tied for second among likely Democratic voters in New Hampshire.
Buttigieg has been a telegenic spokesman for the administration, though he has had to answer for some of the travel chaos in recent months.

Leading among the ‘second choice’ candidates is Vice President Kamala Harris, who will attend an event with Biden next week in Philadelphia.

His favorability is 49 percent, with a slim majority of 51 percent viewing him unfavorable or neutral, all among likely Democratic voters.
It is not yet clear if any Democrats would challenge an incumbent Biden as he seeks to push back Donald Trump and other Republicans. Author, activist and ‘spiritual advisor’ Marianne Williamson is planning to visit status in the coming weeks, indicating a potential challenge.
