Biden faces an uprising against Israel from his OWN STAFF: Top education official resigns as White House 'turns a blind eye to atrocities' and 17 members of his campaign tell Joe to demand ceasefire

President Biden's own Cabinet members are turning against him in light of his handling of the war between Israel and Hamas and his refusal to call for a ceasefire to end the Middle East conflict.

A senior education official under Biden resigned on Wednesday over the administration's “failure” to protect Palestinian civilians in Gaza from Israeli forces in the ongoing deadly conflict between Israel and Hamas that erupted after Hamas's Oct. 7 atrocities.

Tariq Habash, a policy adviser in the department's Office of Planning, announced his resignation in a letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona. NBC reported.

Habash, a Palestinian American, is a political appointee and specialist on student loans and college affordability for the Education Department.

“I cannot remain silent as this government turns a blind eye to the atrocities committed against innocent Palestinian lives, in what leading human rights experts have called a genocidal campaign by the Israeli government,” Habash wrote in his resignation letter.

President Biden was hit again from within his cabinet after a group Seventeen current Biden campaign staffers published a letter condemning Biden out of “tough love” for his approach to the war between Israel and Hamas.

The seventeen staffers called on President Biden to demand a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

“As your staff, we believe it is both a moral and electoral imperative to publicly call for an end to the violence,” Biden campaign staffers wrote.

“Complicity in the deaths of more than 20,000 Palestinians, 8,200 of whom were children, simply cannot be justified.”

The letter was signed anonymously and posted Mediumwhere it outlines five demands for the president.

Biden's own staffers not only demanded a ceasefire, but also condemned the president for the continued “unconditional” military aid sent to Israel from American resources.

The anonymous campaign members called for de-escalation in the region where the conflict between Israel and Hamas has taken place – which has mainly centered around the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, but also on the border between Israel and Lebanon.

They also demanded that Biden and his administration take “concrete steps to end the conditions of apartheid, occupation and ethnic cleansing that are the root causes of this conflict.”

A campaign official declined to comment on the letter but said, “When it comes to President Biden's position, he has been unequivocal: Israel has the right and obligation to defend its people after the October 7 terrorist attack.”

The staffers involved were granted anonymity to protect them from backlash, but five of them confirmed the letter's legitimacy to West Wing Playbook.

One aide said “tough love” motivated them to confront Biden.

“That's what motivated us to do this,” said a second employee. “There is a gap in the type of man he is, and we believe his call for a ceasefire will set the record straight and show the world what kind of man he is.”

Although many are demanding a ceasefire, the conflict in the Middle East shows no signs of de-escalating.

Israel's killing of Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri in a drone strike in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday has raised fears that the war in Gaza could spread beyond the Palestinian enclave and into the Central East could flood.

Arouri, 57, was the first senior Hamas political leader to be killed since Israel launched a brutal air and ground offensive against the group nearly three months ago, following the brutal Oct. 7 attacks on Israeli cities.

Lebanon's heavily armed Hezbollah group, a powerful ally of Hamas, previously vowed to hit back against any Israeli attack on Palestinian officials in Lebanon, saying of the attack: “This crime will never pass without response and punishment.”

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati also condemned the killing, stating that Israel “aims to draw Lebanon further into the war.”

Hezbollah and the Israeli army have exchanged fire across the Israeli-Lebanese border almost daily since the Israeli military campaign in Gaza began, but until now the Lebanese group has appeared reluctant to dramatically escalate the fighting.

A significant response now could escalate the conflict into an all-out war on Israel's northern border.
