President Joe Biden “crashed” a birthday party at chic New York restaurant Il Cantinori on Sunday evening while celebrating his granddaughter Finnegan’s birthday.

Aspiring TV and podcast producer Julie Balefsky shared photos on her Instagram showing the president stopping by and wishing her a happy birthday while wearing a birthday hat and an “it’s my birthday” sash.

The president and first lady Jill Biden also posed for a group photo with Balefsky and her friends at the restaurant, which serves ravioli for $42 and lamb for $69.

“The president ruined my birthday dinner, but it’s still my day,” Balefsky captioned the post.

She did not respond to a request for additional comment from DailyMail.com.

Biden arrived in Manhattan on Sunday evening to attend the United Nations General Assembly and lead a series of political fundraising efforts for his re-election campaign.

But before his official schedule kicked off, he spent several hours at Il Cantinori celebrating granddaughter Finnegan’s 23rd birthday.

Dr. Biden and Ashley Biden were spotted dining with the president, but Finnegan’s father Hunter was not pictured with the group.

Hunter was indicted on weapons charges last week, just two days after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced the Republican Party was opening an impeachment inquiry into the president for trying to link him to his son’s controversial foreign affairs deals.

The president has not yet made an official comment on Hunter’s indictment, although he told Republicans “good luck” with the impeachment inquiry as he returned to the White House from Wilmington on Sunday.

The president was pictured leaving the restaurant with his daughter Ashley Biden, 42, leading him by the hand as they were flanked by bodyguards around 8 p.m. on Sunday.

First Lady Jill Biden followed them, waving and smiling at the crowd who took out their phones to capture the moment.

Biden spent several hours in DC before heading to New York.

The president’s Air Force One landed at JFK ahead of this week’s UN General Assembly conference, where climate change, poverty and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will be top of the agenda.

Biden’s ride downtown caused heavy traffic as police blocked roads in busy parts of Manhattan to clear the way for his motorcade to travel from the heliport to the upscale hotspot – where he received a standing ovation from customers.

Biden’s motorcade was spotted along 3rd Avenue as it made its way from the southern tip of Manhattan.

Motorists honked in frustration as they were stopped on nearby streets and several roads were closed, bringing traffic to a standstill across the island, including in tunnels and along the FDR Highway.

Il Cantinori is located on busy East 10th Street between Broadway and University Place, near the NYU campus.
