Biden admits Trump is ‘maybe the FUTURE president’: Democrat crowd boo
Biden admits Trump ‘might be the FUTURE president’: Democrat audience bummed as president teases 2024 rematch and attacks ‘MAGA Republicans’ in $6.8 trillion budget speech
- “I had a big fight with the former president, and maybe the future president. Bless me, Father. Anyway — all kidding aside,” Biden said
- The president was in Philadelphia to talk about his $6.8 trillion budget — including $5.5 trillion in new taxes, mostly aimed at the wealthy
President Biden called Donald Trump “might be the future president” to a disapproving audience in Philadelphia, where he spoke of his recently released $6.8 trillion budget.
“I had a big fight with the former president, and maybe the future president. Bless me, Father. Anyway — all kidding aside,” Biden said, recalling his time on the campaign trail as crowds booed at a union building.
As many GOP heavyweights called on the party to leave Trump in the wake of legal investigations, a lackluster showing in the meantime, and his laser focus on his 2020 election fraud allegations, it seems his star power is returning.
Four polls last week showed Trump taking the lead in a hypothetical contest between him and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has not yet declared himself president.

And while the general election is still more than a year and a half away, early polls show it will be a close race if Trump and Biden find themselves in a rematch — a February Washington Post/ABC News poll showed Trump 48 to 45 percent lead among registered voters.
Biden has not formally announced his 2024 campaign either, but continues to say he will. His only stated primary opponent of the brand is self-help author Marianne Williamson.
The president was in Philadelphia to talk about his $6.8 trillion budget, which includes $5.5 trillion in new taxes, mostly aimed at the wealthy.
“My budget reflects what we can do to ease the burden of hard-working Americans,” Biden said.
His budget is dead on arrival in Congress, but serves to establish Democratic priorities as a starting point for negotiations with Republicans.
The president repeatedly clashed with “MAGA Republicans” in his speech, framing Trump through the slogan he coined as the party’s de facto leader.
MAGA Republicans are calling for the end of funding for the police department, and now the FBI. That’s a good one, I like it.’
Some right-wing Republicans have called for the FBI to be defunded after they were accused of targeting conservatives and turning a blind eye to Hunter Biden’s misdeeds.
“This isn’t your father’s Republican party, like I said. MAGA Republicans Threaten to Default on the National Debt.”

Nearly an hour after his comments on the budget, he repeated, “I’m going on too long and I apologise. Let me say this again: MAGA Republicans are using the threat of default for the first time in history.”
Biden and GOP Chairman Kevin McCarthy must reach a budget agreement and strike a deal to raise the country’s borrowing limit to more than $31.4 trillion before a June deadline.
The pair met once but agreed to talk again to work out details. On Wednesday, McCarthy criticized Biden for not yet inviting him back to the White House. On Thursday, Biden said he would invite the speaker to go “line by line” and see where they can agree once the GOP budget runs out.
“I want to make it clear that I am always ready to meet with the Speaker tomorrow when he has his budget. Put it down, tell me what you want to do.”
