Beyerdynamic unveils new high-end gaming headset with studio-quality drivers
German audio manufacturer Beyerdynamic today unveiled the MMX 300 Pro, a new wired gaming headset with studio-quality drivers.
Available now for $329 from Beyerdynamic’s website or Amazon, the MMX 300 Pro is clearly aiming for a spot in the premium end of the gaming headset market. It features high-quality 45mm Stellar.45 drivers, which can also be found in some of the company’s more expensive professional studio headphones, like the DT 900 Pro X. They also come equipped with a 10mm condenser microphone, which should deliver more than enough audio quality to allow you to communicate clearly with teammates.
The headset is handmade in Heilbronn, Germany, and is made with a lot of cushioning to increase comfort during long gaming sessions. The ear cups are made of soft velour and the headband is also padded. Like other Beyerdynamic products, the headset is designed with both repairability and durability in mind. The cable, ear cups and headband are all available as spare parts and can be easily swapped out at home, which seems like a sensible way to reduce waste.
While the overall aesthetic is fairly simple, with a very basic black look that might disappoint fans of flashier gaming headsets like the JBL Quantum 910X or the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro for console, a red logo sticker and subtle printed elements do give the device some much-needed flair.
In terms of connectivity, the MMX 300 Pro is wired only, with a 2 x 3.5mm plug for use with the separate headphone out and mic input on a PC. It also comes with a handy adapter that converts this into a single combination 3.5mm connection, which works with consoles including the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, alongside a range of phones and tablets.
