Bexley crash: Emergency response as truck driver becomes trapped after ploughing into a shop front- sparking traffic chaos

Emergency services are working to free a truck driver who became trapped after crashing into a storefront.

The driver veered into a shop on Mimosa Street in Bexley, in Sydney’s south, causing major structural damage on Wednesday morning.

Part of the roof collapsed and rocks came loose and fell on the truck’s windshield.

It is believed the man driving the truck lost control after suffering a medical episode behind the wheel.

Dozens of emergency workers spent more than an hour trying to free the man.

The extent of his injuries is still unknown, but he is believed to be conscious and breathing.

Fire brigade, ambulance personnel and police are on site.

At least two people are believed to have been evacuated from the home.

The Bosweg is closed in both directions.

Eastbound motorists are being diverted to St Georges Road and westbound via Mimosa Street.
