Bexley crash: Extraordinary moment car plummets over the edge of a motorway overpass into the path of oncoming traffic
Dramatic video captures the terrifying moment a car drives over the edge of a highway overpass and into the path of oncoming traffic.
Dashcam footage shows the white Nissan SUV veering head-first onto the M5 motorway in Bexley North in Sydney’s south at 4.50pm on Thursday.
Emergency services were called to the M5 motorway to treat the male driver, who was taken to St George’s Hospital in a serious condition.
Miraculously, other drivers on the highway were able to avoid the Nissan SUV.
New South Wales police said in a statement that officers were at the scene on Thursday “following reports of a single-vehicle crash.”
Australians were quick to react to the footage after it was uploaded the next day by Facebook page Dash Cam Owners Australia.
“I was in the tunnel when it happened, they started announcing it in the tunnel and luckily I was able to get to the Princess Highway exit before the traffic backed up,” one person said.
‘Luckily, it could have been worse if he had landed on another car.’

A third shared: ‘I hope the driver is ok. Imagine coming out of the tunnel and seeing a car fall in front of you.’
“Jesus totally surprised me. I didn’t expect a car crash to be vertical,” wrote a fourth.
