Beverly Hills, 90210 alum Gabrielle Carteris puts on brave smile as she surfaces after co-star Shannen Doherty’s death of cancer
Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Gabrielle Carter put on a brave face when she showed up on Tuesday — three days after her co-star Shannen Doherty died of cancer at the age of 53.
Amid widespread grief over Shannen’s death, Gabrielle wrote on Instagram that her late castmate Luke Perry was “there for her with open arms.”
It has been announced that Gabrielle, along with several other actors who starred on Beverly Hills, 90210, will be hosting a tribute to Shannen during a cast reunion that was already planned for later this year.

The 63-year-old still managed to smile as she walked down the sidewalk with a small plastic bag full of her groceries.

Her appearance came after it was announced that she would be remembered later this year with a special reunion at Beverly Hills, 90210.
Shannen, who played Brenda Walsh in the hit drama series, died Saturday at the age of 53 after living with breast cancer for years.
A source close to Shannen told DailyMail.com that her former costars are currently finalizing plans for a tribute at the upcoming 90s Con Florida on September 13.
Gabrielle, Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering and Brian Austin Green come together to share their memories while honoring Luke, who played Shannen’s love interest on the beloved series.
“The 90210 cast is reuniting for the 90s Con, which Shannen has been so excited about,” an insider told DailyMail.com. “She loved being with the gang. They’ve been her other family her whole life and her TV family forever.
“There were some moments towards the end of her time on the show, but that was all buried long, long ago. Shannen loved them and they loved her.
‘The cast will share words about her and create a montage of Shannen and Luke Perry’s iconic scenes. His death really impacted Shannen and this seems like a fitting tribute.
“Without Shannen, 90210 would never have reached the level of success it has. She was a crucial part of their fame and they all know that. They’re going to honor her with a memorial in Florida and they’re all looking forward to it.”

Gabrielle, who played Andrea Zuckerman, posted about the upcoming event just hours before Shannen died.
Alongside a promotional poster featuring the cast, she wrote: “64 days until we hit Florida for #90sConFL. Come hang with us. Let me know what your favorite episodes were. Who did you have a crush on? Thanks #thats4ent for putting this together. #90210.”
A few hours later, she posted a tribute to Shannen and Luke, who died of a stroke in 2019 at age 52.
“So young – so sad,” she posted alongside a photo of the sky. “May you rest in peace Shannen. I know Luke is there with open arms to love you.”
Social media was filled with tributes to Shannen this past weekend as the world mourned her passing.

Shannen died five years after Luke. The pair played love interests Brenda Walsh and Dylan McKay for the four seasons they were together on the hit series
Jennie, who played Kelly Taylor, said she was “still processing the tremendous grief over the loss of my dear friend.”
She wrote: ‘I will miss her and will always hold her in my heart and memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie.’
Brian wrote: ‘Shan. My sister… You loved me through it all. You were a huge part of my understanding of love. I will miss you more than I can handle right now. Thank you for the gift of you.’
Tori, 51, posted a photo of herself and Shannen on Instagram Stories, writing, “I don’t have the words to say yet.
“But WE knew and that’s what matters.”
The post featured rows of red broken heart emojis and an explosion of gold glitter on the top line.
Beverly Hills, 90210 was created by Darren Star, 62, and produced by Tori’s late father Aaron Spelling, who died in 2006 at age 83.
Tori played Donna Martin, who grew up in Beverly Hills as the daughter of a successful doctor and a socialite.

Gabrielle, 63, who played the brainy Andrea Zuckerman on 90210, also paid tribute to Shannen and their former co-star Luke Perry, who passed away in 2019
Another source spoke out against any rumors of a reboot following Shannen’s death, saying it “wouldn’t feel right.”
“Now that Shannen has passed away, the remaining cast of 90210 no longer wants to return to the world of 90210,” they said.
“They did it, they tried, and without Shannen and Luke it just wouldn’t feel right.
“If they reboot the franchise in any way, it’s going to be very difficult for the show to get Ian, Brian and the rest of the gang back. They want to remember it for what it was and honor that instead of dipping their toes back in the water and trying to catch lightning again.”
Shannen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.
Just two years later, she reported that it had returned, after she went into remission.
She told Good Morning America at the time: ‘In a few days or a week, I’m going to be diagnosed with stage 4. So my cancer has come back and that’s why I’m here.’
“I don’t think I’ve gotten over it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in many ways.”
Last year, she announced in an Instagram post that the cancer had spread to her brain, and it showed her undergoing radiation therapy.
Shannen’s publicist Leslie Sloane confirmed the actress’s death on Sunday.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty,” she said. “On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after battling the disease for many years.
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones and her dog, Bowie. The family requests their privacy at this time so they may grieve in peace.”
