Bethenny Frankel receives backlash after giving ‘leftover makeup’ to T.J. Maxx employees: ‘She’s so out of touch’

Bethenny Frankel has been criticized for giving away “leftover makeup” to TJ Maxx employees, which she filmed in a TikTok video uploaded earlier last week.

The Real Housewives Of New York alum, 52, who recently revealed she was done with bikinis, was labeled “out of touch” by a social media user, while fellow Bravo star, Carole Radziwill, called the action “white savior complex ‘ mentioned.

The two-minute clip that sparked the latest reaction was shared to Frankel’s main TikTok page on September 5 when she stopped by a local TJ Maxx with her daughter, Bryn, 13.

The TV personality explained that “the women who work here are so nice and always compliment me on what we buy…”

“So I wanted to bring them some of the leftover makeup that I had just tried on, opened up and put in a giveaway pile,” Bethenny said, then emphasized, “It’s all brand new.”

After taking a quick look at some designer items in the store, she then cut the clip to show bags full of makeup products.

“So we took the giveaway stuff and I put it all in separate bags for my friends here.” Frankel then walked to the main register and crossed paths with one of the employees.

“This is my friend complimenting my purchases…what’s your name?” You could hear Bethenny ask before he continued, “I’ve got a treat for you here.”

The reality star explained that the makeup items in the bags are “all things that have been opened once and then not used again.” But they are good, luxurious and expensive.’

However, the employee expressed concern about accepting the makeup, stating that there was a possibility of “getting in trouble” for not being able to accept “no tips or gifts.”

Social media users jumped to the comments section to offer their reactions to the video, with one token: “why film her.” she looks scared. Is this for power?’

‘Did you think you did something? Is this how out of touch reality-rich people are? Open used once? I would never do that,” another wrote. One wrote: ‘Man your god complex is OFF THE RAILS.’

A TikTok user added, “Dude what are you doing? No one wants your used makeup. These people are not your grandchildren. You have money. Give NEW things if you want to be kind.”

Another typed: “Keep us posted if Consuela still works there,” while Bethenny replied with: “Of course she works there.”

One TikTok user, @ivonnecruz2525, uploaded a video of her reacting to the clip, writing in the caption, “She’s out of touch. she really thinks she did something there #entitledpeople…’

Former Real Housewives Of New York City castmate Carole Radziwill slammed the businesswoman on X, formerly known as Twitter, and also recast the same role.

Bethenny and Carole have been close on the Bravo series in the past, but their friendship notably fell apart during the show’s 10th season.

Another added: ‘She needs to be taken out, she’s terrorizing Maxxinistas!!!’ while one social media user simply wrote: ‘This is disgusting.’ The Skinnygirl founder has not yet responded to the recent backlash.

Shortly before that, Bethenny recently took to her Instagram Stories and revealed that she’s done wearing bikinis, explaining that a one-piece “holds everything better.”

The TV personality further revealed that she wanted to be able to eat whatever she wants without having to worry about what she eats to fit into a bikini.

After adding that one-piece swimsuits are more comfortable to wear, she quickly pulled the clip from her stories.
