Bestselling author Nelson DeMille dead at 81 after cancer battle
Bestselling author Nelson DeMille has died at the age of 81.
DeMille died Tuesday of stage four esophageal cancer, New York Post confirmed.
This Long Island native was known for his action-packed novels such as ‘Plum Island’ and ‘Charm School.’
His family wrote in a statement to the New York Post: “Nelson fought a courageous battle with esophageal cancer for nine months,
“True to form, he faced this ordeal with courage, grace and good humor. We mourn, but also celebrate his wonderful life and his enduring legacy as a father, friend and storyteller.”

DeMille published 17 bestsellers during his career
He wrote 23 novels in his lifetime, 17 of which were bestsellers.
His first novel, By the Rivers of Babylon, was published in 1978. The last he published was Blood Lines in 2023.
