A New York Times bestselling author who co-wrote thrillers with James Patterson has been arrested on suspicion of child pornography.
Brendan DuBois, 64, was arrested in New Hampshire on Wednesday and charged with six counts of possession of child pornography.
Exeter police and the Internet Crimes Against Child Task Force launched an investigation into him in March after Google reported that someone had stored “apparent child pornography” in a Google Drive account.
Authorities obtained a search warrant and searched his home before he turned himself in to police on Wednesday.
DuBois, who co-authored nine books with Patterson, is being held in the 10th Circuit Court in Brentwood ahead of his arraignment.

The 64-year-old was arrested in New Hampshire on Wednesday and charged with six counts of possession of child pornography.
Police were alerted to the child pornography by Google and downloaded the images, which showed children posing suggestively or performing sexual acts with adults.
They tracked down the user’s IP address and arrived at DuBois’s home on May 7.
He refused to speak to authorities during the search warrant, but his wife Mona Pinette told police they used separate computers and had a password on their Wi-Fi so people outside the home couldn’t use it, an affidavit said.
She added that they were the only ones in their house when the photos were downloaded.
Severn River Publishing, which published twelve of his books, has removed his biography and references to the novels from its website.
“We are deeply shocked by the serious allegations against Brendan DuBois,” the company said.

“We believe these steps are necessary to uphold our values and maintain the trust of our readers, authors and the publishing community.”
DuBois is a former reporter who has written crime novels and collaborated with Patterson, the first author to sell 100 million books in all print formats.
He has written 29 novels, received the 2021 Edward D. Hoch Memorial Golden Derringer for Lifetime Achievement, and appeared on Jeopardy in 2012.
