The rooftop of a popular Sydney pub has been transformed into a shimmering wintery shelter as a cozy escape from the plummeting temperatures.

East Village, in Darlinghurst, is launching its beloved Winter Garden event tonight – an annual activation on the iconic rooftop, surrounded by sweeping views of the city skyline.

The event, which can be booked every day from 5pm to 10pm, will treat guests to a ‘winter wonderland’ with thousands of warm Christmas lights, lanterns, pink lights, white flowers and plants.

The heaters run to protect guests from the icy weather, and everyone has access to blankets, faux furs, soft cushions and candlelit tables for the night.

The menu is equally comforting, with a European Christmas market-inspired offering featuring two types of fondue, an authentic market currywurst dish, vol-au-vents stuffed with truffle chicken, crispy potato pancakes and German fried gnocchi noodles.

In addition to a four-cheese fondue enriched with liqueur, this year there is also a Belgian chocolate fondue fountain with a selection of cakes, fruit, brioche and biscuits to dip in your chocolate.

Traditional Glühwein (mulled wine) and winter-warming cocktails are also on offer, including old-fashioned smoked rum and Coquito shooters made with vegan eggnog, coconut, condensed milk, vanilla and cinnamon.

Other notable food and drink options include Dutch cinnamon donuts, a traditional honey mead, and a winter spritz made with Montenegro, grapefruit liqueur, ginger, and roasted rosemary.
