A MasterChef judge has revealed the best bakeries in Australia – and you’ve probably never heard of them.
Patisserie expert Andy Bowdy, who runs Saga Enmore in Sydney, has revealed the patisserie café and bakeries across the country that he thinks are the best.
Ahead of the annual Cancer Council Australia’s largest morning teaAndy teamed up with De’Longhi to share his thoughts on the best bakeries across the country.
He told Daily Mail Australia that Tasmania, Alice Springs and Fremantle are home to some of the best bakeries in the country – in addition to Sydney and Melbourne.
In Melbourne, many are familiar with the world-famous Lune Patisserie, but Andy recommends visiting Smith’s Cakes and Aquilana Pasticceria.

The Sicilian Bakery in Fitzroy offers cannoli, ice cream and biscuits.
Elsewhere, Sydneysiders should head to Penny Fours for the best pastries in town.
The Balmain bakery offers quirky and savory croissants including tahini custard, roasted eggplant, parsley and lemon croissants, poached pear, ricotta custard and walnut croissant and freshly baked bread.
For those in the Northern Territory, Alice Spring’s Alice Bakery is one of the best in the country, according to Andy.
Sydneysiders should head to Penny Fours for the best pastries in town. Bakery Balmain offers quirky and savory croissants including tahini custard, roasted eggplant, parsley and lemon croissants, poached pear, ricotta custard & walnut croissant (pictured) and freshly baked bread
The bakery offers “pastries made from real butter, donuts with handmade fillings, creative pies freshly made from top quality, locally sourced meats and vegetables,” according to its website.
Locals also love the café’s gourmet sandwiches on freshly baked sourdough and artisan bread.
According to Andy, the Ross Village Bakery and Inn is the best in Tasmania.
The bakery has been operating on the site for over 100 years.
