Bengals star Joe Mixon’s home may have been the scene of a shooting, according to reports

Ohio police were called to the home of Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon Monday night in response to a reported shooting that resulted in minor injury to a minor, who was hospitalized.

The story is still unfolding and Mixon’s involvement, if any, as well as the circumstances of the minor’s injury remain unclear. Hamilton County sheriff’s deputies left the residence without making an arrest, according to Cincinnati’s. fox 19.

The local network reports that officers have cordoned off an area around a home on Ayers Road in Anderson Township, a Cincinnati suburb along the banks of the Ohio River. The residence adjoins a home belonging to Mixon, according to an arrest warrant for the 26-year-old NFL star who retired earlier this year.

Fox 19 reports that there was an evidence marker in Mixon’s yard, and officers were seen spreading crime scene tape onto his property around 11 p.m. Monday.

Less than an hour later, officers reportedly knocked on Mixon’s door, identifying themselves and telling the homeowner to get out of the house. A car was later allowed into the home’s driveway around 12:15 a.m., according to Fox 19.

Mixon has had a turbulent 2023 so far.

After the Bengals failed in their bid for a second straight Super Bowl berth by losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game, a warrant was issued for Mixon’s arrest over claims he pointed a gun a woman in downtown Cincinnati.

Mixon reportedly told the woman she should be “punched in the face,” adding, “I should shoot you now.” The police can’t catch me.

The alleged incident is said to have taken place one day before Cincinnati was to play the Buffalo Bills in an AFC Divisional playoff game.

However, the threatening charge against Mixon has since been dismissed at the request of the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities have reserved the right to resubmit the case at a later date, with a prosecutor telling County Judge Curt Kissinger that the department needs “additional investigation before moving forward with this case.”

The prospectors also noted that the alleged victim understood the need to dismiss the case, but would still like to proceed with the charges if the case is refiled.

Mixon’s agent, Peter Schaffer, said police rushed to prosecute the case, which allegedly involved a road rage incident in downtown Cincinnati.

“It was a snap judgment,” Schaffer said via NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero. They’re dropping the charges first thing in the morning.

“I really feel that the police have an obligation before they file charges, because of the damage that can be done to a person’s reputation, to do their job. They should have a higher standard because I don’t play with people’s lives.’

Mixon remains under contract with the Bengals for 2023 at a base salary of $9.4 million, but his future with the team appears cloudy following recent comments from Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

“Joe has been a vital part of our team,” Tobin said, speaking in the past tense at the recent NFL Draft scouting combine in Indianapolis.

He has been a successful part of our team. Again, I’m not going to predict the offseason because I don’t have the answers.’

Mixon, a second-round pick out of Oklahoma in 2017, has rushed for 5,378 yards and 40 touchdowns with Cincinnati along with 231 career receptions for 1,763 yards and 10 other touchdowns.

He was a Pro Bowl selection for the 2021 season when the Bengals reached the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1988 campaign.
